I remember after a walk on the beach we were having dinner at my Mums. Dog went behind the soda and heaved up a whole starfish!
Sorry, Code, I meant to add that I'm glad your dog is better today, it's such an awful worry when they seem off colour!

    How's he been today, CodeMonkey?
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!
  • Hi there, just wanted to add our hound is always finding then eating then vomiting stuff up - used to panic me lots at first but now used to it! How is he?

He's been ok. Ate most of his food, bounced around when it was time for walks and dived into the river to have a swim. No idea what he got up to with his dog walker but he came back soaking wet and covered in mud so I presume he enjoyed himself. Still not 100% but definitely on the mend. Don't think the heat is helping either.

Thanks for reassuring me. It's scary when they're not well. He's only lived with us for a month but he's part of the family.

    Glad he's feeling better.
Reminds me of a family funeral when a couple of relatives spent the duration of the wake feeding the dog pork pie and pickled onions with predictably explosive results.
You can't really tell people off at a funeral though.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

He's still not eating all his dinner. Should I worry?

I'd give him another day or so since he was reasonably ok yesterday. But if by Thursday or Friday he's still off his food, take him to the vet just to be on the safe side.

Managed to get him to eat most of his food yesterday but today he's eaten about a mouthful of his breakfast and that took a lot of coaxing, so we're off to the vet's tomorrow. I am so worried about him - despite the fact he was having a merry time chasing rabbits on his walk. Didn't want to leave him to go to work but I had to today. Feel like such a bad person.

He has 6 days to go til his vet cover kicks in. Does this mean if it's something he needs surgery or long term care for, the insurance won't pay out?

Could it be the hot weather making him not eat? My old dog used to hardly eat at all over the summer. He would eat frozen carrots or ice cream though!
I'm not sure about your insurance, speak to your vet and they may be more careful in what they put in the notes

DH had to call and see if the vet can see him today. Said his eyes are all sticky and his breathing is funny. I'm stuck at work 40 miles away worrying about my boy and hoping he's going to be ok. His appointment is in an hour.
