Lidl Parking Fine

I received a parking fine last year and didn't know whether to pay it or not. After a look online I decided not to due to the amount of people saying not to. After not hearing from them for 8 months I received a letter last week saying if I do not pay then they will send debt collectors round. Again I ignored it. Yesterday I received another one saying if I do not pay I will receive a poor credit rating.

Can anyone give me some advice please? Should I keep ignoring it or pay the fine?

Thanks

It's NOT a fine!! And you do NOT just get a poor credit rating or CCJ as a result of ignoring these letters! Read this to understand it's all hot air:

Who is sending this rubbish, is it Debt Recovery Plus and Zenith?

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=78495

    Very common codswallop! :)

Which parking company was it as there's a tiny chance, with some firms, that they may try a small claim so make sure you open and keep all the letters, not just bin them. People who get a small claim can defend it of course with forum help and the PPC wouldn't win (but they would if you ignored it, they'd get a default win!).

Anyway what happened when you complained to the Lidl Store Manager?! First port of call when harassed is surely to complain to those responsible for that agent who is harassing you? Especially if you were shopping, for goodness' sake get angry about this scam, not scared and thinking it's a fine when it IS NOT.

You can still complain now, show the Lidl Manager all the letters you keep getting bombarded with and demand to know what sort of 'customer service' Lidl think this represents? Was it an alleged overstay situation, why were you delayed (could be VERY relevant to your complaint)?

  • The first letter is from Roxburghe Debt Collectors and the second letter is from Graham White Solicitors. Both of which are based in Surrey according to the letters

As shown everywhere on the sticky thread (top of the forum) 'PPC letter chains':

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2329119

All you need to do is Google their name to know about them! And it's not separate firms, Roxburghe send the Graham White letters too!

    :rotfl:
See the first link I gave you which explains why this (usually 99% of the time) leads nowhere and is just the usual 'threatograms' just as long as you know not to ignore real small claim papers if they ever arrived.

Which parking company? Parking Eye? They do sometimes try small claims so I would be COMPLAINING at Lidl this week about this trash.

Overstay allegation perhaps? Why the delay?

Yes to ignoring Roxburghe - but is this Parking Eye as I suspect? Be aware to check the post for small claim if so and you MUST NOT ignore that.

Reason for overstay - was it a elderly driver/passenger or disabled?

Complain to Lidl whatever you do, this isn't on.

If that's true and if was an 'overstay' then the PPC and Lidl have breached the Equality Act 2010 by not offering disabled customers longer to park.

Write a complaint letter about this illegal harassment to the PPC and to the Store Manager and Head Office of Lidl (and in addition, why not post it on Lidl's facebook page to embarrass them and force them to act).

As SchoolRunMum on pepipoo I wrote a complaint like that for this poster to send to Parking Eye and Aldi, see post #13:

HTH, that's what I would do rather than wonder about if you are ever going to get a small claim to scare you later on.

DO NOT SEND THIS TO THE DEBT COLLECTOR; THIS IS A COMPLAINT FOR LIDL MANAGEMENT AND THE PPC THEMSELVES.

Seeing as I detest hassle and was guilty for staying half an hour over the allowed limit I paid the £45 charge to Athena ANPR. I was rather more peturbed to read the wording of their receipt;'Thankyou for your purchase'.
While I generally concur with advice to ignore the 'fine' I do recollect one case where a driver was taken to court by the parking company and ended up with a bill for £thousands.
I know it is highly unlikely to escalate to this level but at least now I can forget about my mistake.

Although is is your prerogative and your decision, I am afraid you won't find any sympathy on here for caving in to these scam artists. You weren't "guilty" of anything, you just broke one of their made-up "rules" and that breach wasn't worth £45.

While you are in a generous mood, you owe me £50 for reading this post.

Why have you jumped in on this thread? Have you had your own thread previously about your PCN?

I don't understand where you are coming from?
