Someone sent me a LINK TO THIS ONE:

http://www.kronch.co.uk/shop/salmon-oil#.UaqB50CTjMU
Has anyone used it?
If not, what oil do you give to your dog?
I used to buy one from Zooplus for Zara :

http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_health/skin_coat_supplements/salmopet/51017
But could not really see much difference in her coat...
I feed her dry food and add bran to it, it is easier when some oil is mixed in - had 3 month supply of a very good oil from Poland but it is nearly finished so looking to buy something else.
Zara is 40kg so preferably something that does not cost the earth...
Thanks a lot for any recommendations.
Is salmon oil the best? See other oils for dogs but.. Mostly her coat I am not that happy with to be honest
I used to give her those too:

http://www.animeddirect.co.uk/efavet-660-capsules-pack-of-100.html
Those were recommended by a vet as a very good skin supplement - made no difference to her fur either..
Dull, no shine, sticking out in all directions 2 days after groomers.. sigh.. Love my mutt

I used to use Healthy Hounds I think it was called - from Ebay. A similar question was asked on a dog group I'm in, and someone quite in-the-know with supplements etc. suggested that omega 3 capsules may be more effective than salmon oil from a pump - i.e. stays fresher, won't go rancid. She did say that for good coat health, she would recommend rice bran oil (available from supermarkets) over fish oils though.
I hink her coat has been an issue for a while, hasn't it? I would perhaps consider looking into it a bit further if you haven't already - Kiki's coat went quite dull and 'split end'-y when her thyroid started playing up, and there are other causes for a dull coat too.0 -
Thanks - she was seen by vet dermatologist and he recommended the Efavet for her but it made no difference.
I think it may be something to do with her operations and her still not being completely well...
Put her back on Ester C a week ago and she is MUCH better walking/not limping etc but her coat is always so dull really.
She had all blood tests done not that long ago, including the ones you recommended at th time, all was fine..
No idea why her coat is so bad - no shine, sticking in all directions...0 -
What is bran oil?
Googled and something like that comes up:

Not sure about that extra energy etc... LOL0 -
Arran my sheltie has a bad skin and I've been trying him with Grizzly salmon oil http://www.grizzlypetproducts.com/salmon_oil/salmon_oil.html, his skin is a bit better but he's still got a few scabby bits. I tried him on fish4dogs salmon oil but that made no difference to him at all. I'm thinking about trying him on coconut oil to see if that will help him a bit more http://www.petside.com/article/coconut-oil-miracle-jar-dogs. He has been to the vet about his skin and he's getting regular malaseb baths and also stuff called Humilac which gets sprayed on him.0

I tried Kronk fish oil and ended up throwing it out, it stank to high heaven, I'm sure it was off as other salmon oils I've used didn't smell like that one.
Coconut oil seems to be really popular at the moment, if you do try it you need to get the raw, cold pressed stuff, it's certainly getting a lot of good reviews.0 -

Coconut oil is great
(it's not actually an oil, but a white solid at room temp) “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Thanks a lot everyone.
How much of coconut oil? Per say 10kg of dog's body weight. Anyone knows?
And where to get good one?0 -
I used the kronch one for a bit and it had no effect whatsoever.
I am now using http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/fish-4-dogs-sos-salmon-oil_1_155128.html and it seems a lot better0 -
I believe coconut oil is really high in fat so I think you'd need to be careful how much you give.
I think Zara likes fish (?) doesn't she?
Have you tried a tin of oily fish (sardines, pilchards) added to her dinner a couple of times a week?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
