E61 got the unlock code but how do I get the W P + characters?

I got the unlock code for an E61 (the full QWERTY one) from T-mobile
But they sent it to me with the standard instruction ("....press * 3 times to display p" etc.)

The problem is that on the E61 it doesn't happen! You simply get * displayed 3 times!

Before I call T Mob and solve the prob, I was hoping that some of the experts over here can tell me how to get the special characters on this handset.

Anyone?

not had an e61 but have you tried it with a different sim in?

the star button will give you the p & w, just press it a few times until the desired character is displayed.

Remove simcard and then try it.

After trying the various suggestions here (which didn't work, actually) I tried keying in the letters themselves from the keyboard... and it worked!

For the benefit of others, I took the SIM out (not sure if this was necessary though) and pressed (out of teh keyboard)

#pw+unlockcode+1#

and got the lovely "restriction off " message.

When I got mine unlocked it said either take the simcard out, or leave a working simcard which it is NOT locked to.

So I thought it would be easier to just say take it out.
