Hi,
PC seems much better, faster .
Log file seems better!
I have got rid of most of the stuff, finding SYGATE was fun.
I still have to get rid of CTFMON.
I think STEAM is used so I have left it.
I use NETMETER to keep an eye on usage, am I better off without it.

netmeter - depends whether you need it, the router often keeps a more accurate count of downloads if you are on a limited broadband deal

anything running at startup uses resources

post a fresh hijackthis log if you want a final check, and suggest a macrium backup if you want to keep it this way

I have followed advice and got rid of most junk, I probably need to sort out toolbars.
My startup looks positively bare, I do not get chance to make a brew while my PC loads.

macrium is a disk image backup program, which takes a complete copy of everything on your hard disk, and creates a backup (don't use clone option) (.img file) on an external disk. If anything goes wrong in future, you can boot from the macrium cd, and restore the machine to the state it is in now, with all programs, and data intact, there is a video embedded in the speedup sticky demostrating it.

A few other things you could tidy up
If you have a java icon in control panel, click it, advanced, misc - untick java quick starter, and untick place icon in system tray.


tick and fix these using hijackthis (works the opposite way around to msconfig, ie a tick in hjackthis deletes the entry)
