That is obviously better news if that is correct.

Does anyone know for sure either way?

Voluntary redundancy allows you to sign on for JSA with no sanction
Voluntary leaving may result in a sanction

My husband took voluntary redundancy a couple of years ago and was able to sign on when he left

I already told you and I'm sure!

See attached section 34034 example 2

    A worthy distinction.

Also worth considering that one person's version of voluntary redundancy may not be another's.

    Such things have specific definitions.

Are you sure you have the right section (or is it me being blind ?) ? I can't see any examples given under section 34034 (unless you are referring to where it says

[See DMG Memo 04/13] [See DMG Memo 11/13]

    ?)

You're right, I glanced at the number quickly before I closed it, the section is 34042 which has the example but 34034 still applies for general info.

So the situation I've found myself in is this. I'm leaving my job in a week's time. I'm pretty certain I would be classed as voluntarily unemployed, and get no JSA for 13 weeks. The money I have in the bank will last me roughly that length of time anyway.

My question is this. If 13 weeks passes and I still haven't found another job, would I at that point get JSA straight away, with 13 weeks already having passed since I left my job? Or would I be sanctioned straight away for a further 13 weeks?

The OP hasn't said why he is leaving his job in a week's time.
Being pretty certain he would be classed as voluntarily unemployed is crucial to the advice we can give him.

    And your point is?
