I go on holiday without my children every year, just for a short break. Whilst I am away they go off to their grandparents for their own little holiday and really love it. It does us all good. We also have a family holiday together each year so they have lovely experiences and memories to look back on.
Your children will be fine with your mum and have a wonderful time. Grab this opportunity and enjoy it is my advice OP.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I wouldn't, as a working mum I see precious little of my son as it is and in a few years time he'll have flown the nest and won't WANT TO COME ON HOLIDAY WITH ME ANY MORE SO I'D RATHER MAKE THE MOST OF HIM WHILE HE'S HERE.

I am hoping to go on a very belated (3 years!) honeymoon with my husband at the back end of next year. My son will be 3 and this baby will (hopefully) be nearly 1 and my mother has already agreed to having them for us.
For us, time as a couple is in short supply and we really need some time together. I don't feel bad and my son will LOVE being with his grandparents.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

we have been given the opportunity to go abroad justthe 2 of us with some friends. My mum can have the younger two and the older one would be ok on her own.
You've only known the SD since March. Are you certain that she will behave well, having the house to herself while you're away?0 -
I wouldn't hesitate about going away without the children. My parents really enjoyed having ours when they were young. I think it's different for grandparents having them when parents aren't around. You've only known the SD since March. Leaving the SD would bother me a little but if her dad thinks it's ok then trust his judgement. I'd feel happier if she stayed with a friend or someone.0 -
The husband and I are off to Greece for a week on Monday, just the 2 of us :j We take it as an essential part of the year, a time for us to be totally selfish and do what we want, or not have to do what we don't want. It is nice to remember that much as we love our children we still can take some time for ourselves.
We are taking a week in Cornwall in July with all the family, that will be about entertaining and indulging them.0 -
No we have never been on holiday on our own, we have had 2 weekends away.
As for leaving the 19 year old im not 100% sure but we dont really have anywhere else she can go, my mum where the younyer ones are going is too far away as she has just started a new job and wont be able to get there. I dont feel we can tell her to get out for a week.0
