Waiting for cashback........

I have a cashback by redemption deal with mobiles.co.uk. I sent my March bill and they acknowledged receipt saying allow 6 to 8 weeks for the cheque to arrive. I'm still waiting, despite raising a ticket number on their website and getting an apologetic email from customer services. Is this typical?

Sometimes the only language they understand is a Letter Before Action giving them, say, 2 weeks to pay what is due and saying that you are submitting a claim to Small Claims Court otherwise.0

Unfortunaely it is typical, they rely on inertia to avoid/delay paying0

Only if you let them.0

Thanks for your responses. I'll try a letter.0

But most of these firms end up going bust leaving the Cashback client at the mercy of the network - who were not a party to the deal.
A letter before action would be pointless, as many others found out - they don't pay because they've no money - court action doesn't make it available, and you end up losing even more.0 -

Not so likely in this case, though, as mobiles.co.UK are a subsidiary of Carphonewarehouse.0 -
Funny, in 7 years of doing scores of my own and the same for many other people I've only lost out (slightly) on two contracts with a (higher risk) dealer who went bust. That's offset scores of times by the profit I made on all the others, so long may they continue!
LBA's have been an invaluable tool; even with the dealer who did go bust they produced three overdue cashback claim cheques a week or two before it happened - many others didn't send one and lost far more than I did. Even if a dealer is on the way to receivership they are very concerned to avoid that last straw which pushes them over the cliff, so have a large incentive to pay up when someone is serious about suing. "Pointless" is the worst advice anyone could give.0
