Hi,
I have virginmedia for all three (BB/TV & phone). I have actually been really happy with their service on all 3. However, we are moving house in a couple of weeks, and unfortunately VM can't provide any service at all to our new address (quite rural).
I called them today to see how we stood and the chap told me he wants 30 days notice (fine) and a cancellation payment of £60 ish as I am still within my minimum contract period. I told him I didn't think this was fair that as they couldn't provide the service, I didn't see how that was my fault.
Does anyone know how I stand legally on this please?
Thanks.

You don't stand anywhere. You agreed a minimum term contract at your current address, and VM do not guarantee 100% coverage. It's your choice to move and so the ETC is payable.
This question is asked several times each week, but the answer does not change.
You can migrate both your line rental and broadband onto Virgin National ADSL service (not the TV), but is not recommended (just a resold BT Wholesale service). And it will start you on a new minimum term.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
HI, okay thanks. Can't migrate the line rental & broadband service as they can't supply any kind of internet connection at the property - something about it being an old BT exchange and too far away, or something anyway!
Only thing I am unhappy with is I have been with VM for about 10 years in total, but anyway, as you said not their fault, not my fault, just circumstances I guess.
Cheers for the advice.0
