Sorry Cornucopia my question was for the OP as their post was a bit ambiguous:
I don't have a TV licence as I watch programmes after they've been broadcast
As you say, online, fine. If you recorded it and watch it, licence needed.

Had a visit from a TV Licence man
    What will happen now?

Did you sign anything because if you did the BBC TV Licence goons have a nasty habit of falsifying the forms after they've been signed which would leave you in the (censored)
How long do you think it will be before he returns with a warrant?
He asked for me when he knocked on the door. If he has a warrant and my girlfriend is home, can she refuse access if I am not home?

Again that would depend on whether you signed anything. The best thing you could have done would have been to tell them to do one..............................having no communication leaves the BBC goons impotent because they never have anything on you

Which part? everything there seems perfectly correct.

Not now though, not in the digital age but it suites the BBC to make the public believe its correct ;)

For whatever reason(s), the BBC is not routinely using detector equipment.

If it was, there would be no need to hassle people who are legally licence free, because they would already know that those people were acting lawfully.

The problem is that whilst the BBC clings to the notion of detector equipment, but in reality does something quite different - (a) it makes them seem "dodgy" and deceitful, and (b) they are stuck with what is probably quite an ineffective system, and cannot change it without admitting that detection is no longer in routine use.

Hold on a minute, so however crazy the OP seems, if they continue to refuse access then the TVL can't really do anything about it as they don't really get search warrants any more?

If that's the case, why are people even bothering to pay the licence at all? And are these people who get caught silly enough to admit / sign paperwork?
While I understand it is breaking the law, I bet nearly everyone breaks the law at least once a day. I stick to the speed limit on roads but I see hundreds going far quicker than the 70mph limit on the motorway and that's just one example.

I'm starting to see the TVL problem a bit more of a moral issue rather than legal.
For instance, it isn't exactly morally right to fleece Halifax out of £5 a month for not using their Reward Current account for the intended purpose. But then that is a whole other issue.

Their supposed to have evidence of a crime being committed but if you refuse to communicate with them that's next to impossible so they'd need to commit perjury in order to obtain one.

    I never have

They've believed the hype the BBC has been pushing for years.

Its only against the law if you watch "live" feeds

And you have a choice when it comes to banks.............if you want to watch live feeds the BBC doesn't give you one

Because of the adverts and letters threatening court action backed up by their hired goons knocking on your door. Just politely tell them you will not answer any of their questions and ask them to leave, they have no more powers than any other member of the public. Throw any resulting correspondence in the bin. Or just pay for a license every year, your choice.

    I am surprised.
I would have thought they have more power than that.

I guess if they see you physically watching live TV then they could get a court order easily.

OP hasn't replied, possible troll but brought out interesting facts.
