I'm afraid that wasn't an option Bri1. If it had been I would have done so. My complaint is with the fact that it was only an option if you were hiring for fewer than 5 days, because if you are hiring for longer, they figure they can rip you off.

I must admit, it hadn't occurred to me that they might have done a full/full deal if I'd asked them. I supposed I'd assumed it's a fixed policy, but as you suggest, I should have argued the point.
I did get a very cheap upgrade. When we arrived the car we'd hired was much to small really, a Fiat 500. He offered us an upgrade to a Ford Focus for £8 per day, that we ended up getting for £3.50 a day.0
