i was ask to leave my home by my wife!!!!!!

I am married since july 2004 and live in New Jersey/ USA since july 2005.
I have a 2 year old daughter and my husband has been repeatedly asking me to leave (with the baby).
Verbal abuse and threats follow the request, sometimes physical abuse occcur as well.
I called the police once but did not press charges so he was released after a couple of hour. Came home and said that he would change but he didn't. The abuse keeps going on. He askes me to leave every single day or at least every each day.
I am a stay-at-home mother and not a legal resident of US. I can't work legally and I am afraid if I start working illegally he would denounce my situation and get me deported and then I would never be able to see my dayghter again.
Today he signed a letter authorizing me to leave USA with my daughter and go back to my country. He gave me US$ 3000 (out of which I would spend $1500 to buy the air tickets) and said he does not want to see me in the house once he is back... I am being kicked out of my own house with my child. A tenant would give me a longer notice.
The house as well as the loan is on both names. The same thing to the car.
I am completely lost. Don't know what to do, where to go to look for help, and I have no money.
CAn anyone advise me, please?
