o2 online or o2 shop?

I am confused! Are the people who get the whizzy deals from o2 when they threaten to leave on o2 online or o2 shop?

I've been with o2 online for about 7 years, and when I threatened to leave, they basically said ok. I'm currently PACing my number to T mobile, so i can PAC it back to o2 via dialaphone.

My boyfriend who's been on o2 for about 7 years as well, but 4 years online, then 3 years o2 shop. He upgraded his phone about 2 months ago, paying £15 for 18 months and got a shiny new samsung d600. He received a call from o2 yesterday asking if he wanted to upgrade to 600 mins for £17.50 a month and get ANOTHER new phone!!! He plans to take this new deal and sell the new phone he gets on ebay!

Is it just me or has something gone seriously wrong here? Granted he does spend more than me per month, but not huge amounts. The only difference is that i'm o2 online and he's o2 branch.

Any replies much appreciated

I don't think there's much difference tbh, I wanted a particular phone from O2 online and was told I could get it on the same T's & C's if I went in to the shop.
I've always dealt with them online and had no problems and got a good deal from them this time round (partly because I've been with them so long and partly because they messed me about a bit!) but I imagine some people would prefer to deal with the company face-to-face.
You could always try ringing them to see what they will offer (get a direct phone number foe the operative you speak to in case the next one you speak to denies all knowledge!) and then go into the shop ans see what they will offer. Quite often if you get a good deal from another network they will better it to keep you.

i am with o2 online, and i find that that the minutes and texts offered are more online compared to shops. upgrade also is cheaper if you call online customer service, but select the option of leaving o2 as then you go to retension who offer better deals
