I've got the same with mine, also windscreens don't count as claims. Surprised you're all so incredulous!
    And who are you with?

Have you properly checked the wording on your policy documents?

Yeah I have. I'm not going to name my insurer as tbh, I've been stung before on forums giving too much info away. I'm not being obtuse. Once bitten and all that.

What is this insurer? I will transfer to them! Seriously! Mine demands that everything is told, any incident at all...

    Aviva say........
    • You need to tell us about any motor related claim whether fault or non fault.
    • You don’t need to tell us about accidents where an insurance claim was not made and you paid for repairs yourself......
having said that, *most* insurers do seem to ask about accidents/incidents whether or note a claim was made

I suppose the real answer is to read the policy T&C rather than assuming or relying on forum posts

Taken from CIS's car insurance policy document:
So even though the advisor told you one thing it is indeed part of you policy conditions to inform them. I'd stick to what you have in writing if I were you.

That didnt appear in the paperwork/policy documentation they sent me ;) I checked after the guy gave that response (and also made sure he noted that i'd called and the details blah blah - call me paranoid if you wish - i even hung onto the other drivers details for a good few years).

In fact I probably am paranoid. I even took pictures of the guy and his car (and mine). Although he spiked my interest when he initially tried to avoid giving his details. Was probably just worried what mum/dad would say :rotfl: (he didnt look old enough to have passed his test anymore than a few months!)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

This reminds me of an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Watch it. Season 5, episode 9.
