2 wing back chairs, about 200 photography mags and so much more, Wonderful to see stuff recycled and others getting use and pleasure out of things that may have ended up in landfill

Freecycle is a total waste of time you reply but items gone already however quick you are!

That is just the luck of the draw, you will get lucky but not always,

    I love freecycle.
We have given and received several things I supposed the best was a greenhouse.
Last year a lady asked for spare greenhouse glass, my OH collects it, freecycle, friends etc we have an allotment so lot's of folk need glass for repairs. Anyway we offered her some panes and some spare clips. This year she contacted us and said would we like the greenhouse as they were moving abroad. So OH and a neighbour went round ,dismantled it and removed. they erected it in said neighbours garden so everyone was chuffed. The only payments given were smiles and thankyous !:T

A 12ft trampoline, my children were longing forone bu I just couldn't afford it, and to be honest didn't really think that they would use it that much. The person getting rid of it was thrilled that it went to a family with children and was very glad to be rid of it, and my children have loved it. Worth every penny!

I received a wallpaper pasting table from a local resident and have used it quite a lot for wallpapering but also at car-boots. It has proved a great freebie. I also asked for windfall apples to make marmalade with and got lots.
  • I got a full drum kit.

My daughter was thrilled - the neighbours? not so much...

Also an electric guitar and amp on a separate occasion

I was in desperate need of a computer when I was out of work to help me do a cv and register online for jobs etc, someone gave me a computer, monitor, printer, mouse, keyboard, mousemat and even a computer desk and chair.
I was so grateful, I got a job about 8 weeks later and treated myself to a brand new computer. I put the other one back on free cycle and it went to a lovely young student.

I was at my lowest ebb at the time and someone's kindness made a huge difference to me.

Most of the time I reply the item has already gone so quickly but by some fluke or gift from above we got given a pine swing seat, a huge pine picnic table which was made at a sawmill place, 6 wooden recliner chairs with cushions all very good quality, a metal bistro set and a metal hammock and garden umbrella the lady was moving up country and didn't want to pay to move it she was giving a way a lot of expensive stuff, but I am truly thankful for all of the above as there is now way that we would be been able to afford any of it, it all needs sanding down and varnishing but worth the time and effort. We lived 5 mins round the corner and she was moving in 2 days, we were lucky enough to know someone with a truck we took it all in 5 mins, she was happy and we were over the moon and still are 2 yrs later, We love the garden and these finish it off.

From another lady we got 6 glass ikea jugs and some ikea lanterns which we used at our wedding!

That was awhile ago and I haven't had anything from freecycle since but to be honest the furniture is more than enough so i'm not worried.:)

Can be the small things- some tomato plants when mine failed to germinate to the much bigger 3 wheeled very smart buggy we we lucky to be offered for the arrival of 3rd Grandchild- they weren't going to have any more, so I'd put all their baby stuff on Freecycle previously.
Best tho' have been some great encounters with some interesting folk who've now become friends.
Worse things will have happened in the world today...

Love the idea of freecycle and have mainly given things away, the only good thing I have ever got is a cat scratching post. I once got a box full of kitchen stuff which was advertised as being 'ideal for a student' I thought it would be great for my daughter who was going to uni that year - on collecting the box I had a quick look in and drove straight to the tip!!! Wouldn't have fed an animal out of the dishes in there!!!!! Everything was dirty, chipped, broken and just disgusting looking - can't think that any student no matter how desperate would have wanted that!
