Which Broadband provider is BT as bad as people make out?

I'm not sure what the best BB deal is anymore.
I am moving next week but need a cross over between houses in terms of internet access so ideally want to set up a new account.
I currently have an old O2 package which i realise will go to sky but i am long past the end of the term so can cancel and think i want to to be honest.
New house would need phone reconnecting currently 130?
Anyway via TCB i've seen a deal where you get free connection, and £8 a month for 12 months on the unlimited 16mb package.
+ £25 sainsburys voucher and £80 cashback via TCB.
Seems a very good deal.???
I've read a lot of negative stuff about BT though particularly stuff about charges even after contract to go to another provider.
Am i listening to the naysayers to much? or do you have any other better ideas?

You'll see a lot of negative comment for all ISPs.
The main complaint I see now about BT (the ISP) is about extra charges for overuse of the capped products and I suspect virtually all of those are where there was genuine overuse but the customer doesn't know how it happened.
All ISPs other than cable depend on BT Openreach and imo they are a complete shower because the way the regulator set things up they are totally unaccountable to the public. Many complaints about ISPs can be laid at their door.
Regarding the deal you found - if it suits you take it as sfaik BT are no worse than any ISP and probably better than many these days.0
