Friday 31th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Good morning everyone!
Hope you are all feeling well today. It's exciting today, because a: it's payday and b: it's Friday! :j
The takeaway success was short lived unfortunately. Last night I rattled off several meals to OH who just stood looking blankly at me and then said he wanted pizza or nothing. After eating said pizza he said it wasn't even that good and he'd have enjoyed something cooked at home just as much
So it's up to me to continue the mission I see!
B/L/D from stores (whether OH likes it or not!)
Gently remind OH to TURN THE PC OFF AT THE WALL! *ahem*
Charge phone in work
Poss an hour or so of overtime. Need to finish a certain thing in work before c.o.b. today
Check online banking and move payments around (think I'm done but need to tally against spreadsheet in work)
Tend to seedlings. They're starting to look good
Keep an eye out in the post for my new coat (it's been shipped so it might arrive before the weekend!) - not mse but really excited!
Might start the housework a day early, because I'm out Sat afternoon. My friend is coming over from America and we've got her for one afternoon only.
Go and buy that bucket today as didn't yesterday. Also need energy saving light bulb.
Did some home waxing last night instead of paying salon (or just ignoring it like usual!). Think the salon does it better but it's not bad
I'm off to be positive and spread happy vibes (apart from towards OH for leaving the pc on). Have a good one all

Hi all
Thanks for starting us off carrie and welcome catandy, we're all in this together on this thread so feel free to pop back during the day and update/add!
DM is taking DD away for the day so we can finish painting her (old) bedroom, thank god for mothers!
This is me:
- Checked banking
- Transfer £11.99 from entertainment budget to main account for lunch in Ikea last Wed
- Work out "spare" money and pay it off CC
- Look online for curtains for DD's new bedroom, all the windows in the new house are totally different to old house
- Order new ironing board cover from fleabay
- Hopefully new phone should arrive at work today! If it does, pop in and get it
- B/L/D from stores
- NO going into shops today, especially not B&Q, Wickes, Homesbase.....all money pits, the lot of them!
- Get a couple more boxes together to take to new house
- Check conveyancing website for updates, called the solicitor yesterday to "touch base" with her...am expecting a couple of updates today as a result :rotfl:
- Finish painting DD's old bedroom
- Paint interior of old porch (this was noted on the inventory as being "Poorly maintained" because we stack our logs in there in the winter, a good hard brush off and a coat of masonry paint will sort this out
- Tip trip!
- Start writing household information sheet for new potential tenants
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Morning all,
Thanks Carrie for starting us off.
Well yesterday turned out to be quite productive, aided and abetted by some nicer weather than we were expecting. Entertained ourselves with a walk down the lane looking for butterflies. OH did some photography. However, I think we have a wasps' nest under our unfinished decking area...will observe and see...
-Still no letter yesterday from Council Tax Relief telling us how much we are getting and therefore how much we owe before 7th June. Maybe it'll come in this afternoon's post. Whatever happened to mail coming at breakfast time? Ours now comes at 2.20pm!
-Homemade bottom-of-the-freezer pasties with all the random things that we forgot we had squirreled away and puff-pastry we bought just about out of date for 20p yesterday. Also removed some ice from freezer to make it more economical. Meals for the next few days will be from things we forgot we had in the freezer.
-Do some calculations. At the moment we are paying exactly enough for the gas and electricity but we should be using less soon as the weather warms up.
-Read some library books.
-Plan a free weekend treat.
-Do BzzAgent survey.
-Explain to OH that we can turn off the Sky Freesat box when watching DVDs.

Hi All
Feeling quite a lot better today, the cold and flu must be kicking in. My OH loved the using up curry last night, he really enjoyed it. Took me 15 mins max prep. Some of the stuff I've made and slaved over and barely a word! Funny isnt it. Was just onions, potatoes fried, chicken stock, 2 tea spoons of curry powder and the meat off some chicken wings and ribs left in the fridge.
Naughties all of you having take aways! Wagging my finger @Carrie & Katie Ann
Josie - You are steaming ahead with your debt slaying arent you, how are you managing that and moving house??? I need your ninja MS skills in my life
Today is DEAD at work after a really mental day yesterday. It is almost impossible to manage supply & demand. Ahhhhh!!!!
Only thing I will need to buy today is a deodarant for my OH. We both find it funny that no matter if we both start a deodarant on exactly the same day, he will finish his first. Weird hey. Maybe Im just a smelly bird who should use more
Right all for now.

LOL Bob you do make me laugh, smelly bird!!! I always wonder silly things like that, like why do tea towels get dirty if you only ever dry up stuff you've just washed? Hmmm....
Anyway, the debt slaying was going really well but I'm going to be at a standstill this month as I've just paid for a new cooker :-/ thanks for your encouragement though!!! :-DNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
But your total is still coming down?? I am just being competative because we were both around £5.5 a little while ago. Im also being competative with Perni because shes in the same ball park. I need my debt busting homies

Ive managed to do all of my to do list :T so my motivation is back - gosh I'm easily pleased arent I? lol anyway I think targets per day are the way to go for me - means like I feel I'm doing something.
Oh and I also got another company contact me who want to hire me which would make another 1K income per month, I havent got the contract thru yet or gone thru it in any detail but I'm happy that things seem to be on the up (long may it continue!)0
