O/S Daily Friday 31st May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Well I have a date to go Into Hospital and to have my OP:T:T

They Phoned me up out of the Blue yesterday, To tell me that I can have a bed This Sunday, And I can have the OP on Monday:T:T

I really was not expecting them to phone, As I had only spoke to them On Tuesday to be told there was no date set yet.

They Must have been working on it at the time. My GP Phoning must have given it a little help along maybe ? Who know's?

Still I have date that;s the main thing. I could I know still lose that bed on Sunday. I need to wait for the ward manager to give me a ring on Sunday to make sure that the bed is still free.

I could also lose my OP spot If an a emrmancy comes In and also I could lose the ITU bed that I need for after the OP. When you have a OP like the one I'm having you have to spend 24 hrs In ITU after
In the past I have lost My ITU bed, So that have not been able to do the OP.
Just one of them things. But If all that goes to plan. Then I should be having the OP on Monday,

I will have My Iphone with me, But Of course I will not be able to use it In ITU, So I will not be able to update anyone on here until Probably Wednesday,
I will get my Wife to update my Time line on Facebook. So those of you on Facebook. Will see if iv had it and how I am. If one of you good people could report back here please on the daily. Then anyone who I'm not friends on Facebook or who have missed update on Facebook will know. Then that would be great.
I think that most of you are friend with me now.

Plan for today,

I need to go to Hospital for some pre OP Blood test and stuff this afternoon. My Mum is coming back from the caravan to take me. I don't have to be there until 1:15 this afternoon.

This morning I have some Plants that I need to plan on into bigger pot's

Also need to sort my Bag out. I have a few Items already packed. Socks and Boxers, New tooth brush and PJ's

But It;s the other stuff I need to sort. For when I'm Back out of bed. Jogging bottoms and t-shirts. The stuff that I have not had new of to go In with. and of course reading stuff, Book's Mag's
They can be long day's In Hospital !

No plans for meals today as yet. My wife is at work this afternoon. The twins are at her Mum';s they had a sleep over there In the end last night and will not be back until about 7:00pm tonight,
No Girls Brigade for them today as Its half team.

Great news Halight, a date at last.
I've been awake since 4, so I've given up at got up, made a cuppa and started my monthly shop online.
I've emptied & reloaded the DW, can't be arrised to do anything else just yet.
I didn't get round to doing the ironing y'day so I'll do that today.
The Christening gift I ordered is ready so I need to collect that at 11, it's not far from my house, so that won't take long.
Not sure what's happening today, I'm just trying to ignore going back to work on Monday!

Try to forget about work,

We lose so many days worrying about work on our day's off!

I know I did when I was working and no doubt I will do the same again when I;m back at work!

No of us get paid enough to worry and waste our day's and weeks that we have off.!

Morning all,
Been absent for a week so lots to catch up on. DH landed safely in Vancouver on Monday and has phoned every evening. I've done so many jobs since he's been away, just to keep myself busy as I do miss him.
Y/day I weeded the front garden, washed the paint work on the windows and front door and cleaned the windows. Vacumed and polished all bedrooms and scrubbed the shower room, I wiped bleach on all of the tiles and left it on overnight, I rinsed them down and now they're gleaming.
I sorted through DH's clothes and took a lot to the CS, I gave my Nephew 14 T shirts. DH wont throw anything out.
Today I'll clean the bathrooms, study and kitchen. I'll empty the fridge and give it a good seeing to with stardrops.
My DM & OH are coming to stay for the week-end so I'll sort through the freezer and see what I can cook for their dinner.
Great news HALIGHT, hope all goes well, I'll report back here from FB for you.

Cloudy, but not raining and dry underfoot - will put the washing on the line shortly. Did get going with the washing mountain yesterday but still lots to do so will just keep plodding along with it.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was salad, bought some ham carved from the bone, roast pork with stuffing, beetroot and new potatoes - everything else I'd already got - defrosted some prawns, made up a salad, cooked a quiche - was completely stuffed afterwards and DH said how nice it was! Tonight I'm not definitely sure what we are having will be either ham and cheese kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk or chinese type dinner with prawns in black bean sauce, noodles, and HM egg fried veg rice. If the menfolk have the kiev option I'll be having omlette and salad - if we have the chinese option I will have that aswell.

Was quite a busy bee yesterday - took boys to the dentist first thing. Then we went straight into town and bought DS1 a new phone which he is very happy with. I then dropped them home and went to my nail appointment - feel so much better now they don't look all scrappy! Am really pleased with how she has done them and she's a young woman with a child who has taken her qualifications whilst her baby was small (he's only 2 now) and she didn't want to stay on benefits forever so has got herself qualified and is renting a chair etc at a salon as she's a hairdresser aswell as beauty therapist. Did clear the dining table of all the bags and stuff that had been dumped, also waded through all the stuff on my desk as I was having to peer over it to see my pc screen - now all much tidier.

Not very happy with the flooring company as the guy was booked and told to come back yesterday afternoon after 12pm - I was home from then and the boys were home from 10am and no-one had rang or come to the door and by 3.30pm I was beginning to get that feeling that no-one was going to turn up - so I rang the company and the young assistant said she would find out what time the flooring guy was coming back and took my number to call me back. I waited a while and then got a phone call from the owner of the business to say that the guy was stuck at a job which was taking much longer than expected and he wasn't going to be able to get to me yesterday afternoon as planned. Could he come first thing this morning? So I'm first call this morning and he should be here by 9am - we'll see!

molly, Meanmarie I've never heard of Irish twins but it was hardwork, I had three under five and the older two were like twins at different stages. Then we got rid of all our baby stuff and along came number four:eek: big surprise as our youngest was seven. A nice one though I wouldn't change a thing.

halight omg that's fabulous news. I'm going for my pre op today. I can't believe you are beating me too it on Monday and I have to wait until Wednesday I'm so pleased for you.

Nmlc I really need my nails doing, just can't justify the expense at the mo, I'm looking out for a special offer. Hope the flooring people turn up this morning.

beth I hate it when dh is away, but don't you get a lot done:D

Need to have a cuppa and a quick shower. Dh is busy working today so my youngest will come with me to my pre op. bit of moral support and I'm not really sure where I'm going. Will call into the local town on the way.

Halight great news honey we will all be rooting for you here

Supposed to be 20c today but I can't see it somehow .If it does brighten up we are taking the boys to the beach at Westgate.

Yesterday was really good the Museum of Modern Music at the O2 was excellent.The boys loved it, and when we came out after a couple of hours the rain had stopped so we had our picnic in the car at Greenwich Park then had a wander round to see the deer and the ducks and the boys played football.
This morning I was very pleased to get an email from a long lost cousin of my late OHs that I had been looking for to put into the family tree,so I'll have some paperwork to sort out over the weekend.
Tomorrow is Mikey's ninth birthday bless him and then on Monday its Henry's 12th birthday so two birthdays together Bless them they are both quite happy to have joint birthdays which is nice although they do get sperate presents :) we will have a joint birthday meal on Sunday for them
Right time I got a wriggle on and had a cuppa or three

reading through yesterdays post I saw how much driving lessons are I paid 27/6d per hour for mine at BSM back in 1960 I didn't need that many as my eldest brother taught me to drive when I was 13 off road in a car park :)which helped no end .I too taught both of my Dds to drive off road before they started lessons ,so by the time they started they could start,stop,change gear and park.As I drove for my living I wanted them to learn as soon as possible so I didn't have to be the 'taxi' carting them around :):)
