Does this sound a bit dodgy from Virgin media

Sixth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hi all

Just wondering other peoples opinion on this. I have recently renewed my contract with virgin media for tv, broadband and phone. I had originally been leaving to join sky but the retentions team offered me a deal of £20 a month discount on my bill for the entire duration of the 12 month contract. I was happy to accept this however today i was sent out a paper copy of my new contract and there was no mention of this discount. I phoned up customer services and they say there are notes on my account confirming the discount however since this is a "special" discount and has to be inputed manually every month they cannot send me any written confirmation that this discount exists. They say i can write a letter asking for a transcript of the notes on my account however since my cancellation period ends on Monday there is no way i will have this in time. I feel uncomfertable with this as i have no proof of this discount and am not sure what to do. I recorded my conversation with a representative from customer services however i have my doubts as to whether this would be of any use. Has anyone else experienced this situation? or have any advice?

Thanks

Hi, I got an amazing deal from Virgin mobile. When I rang to cancel they offered me a new phone, minutes, texts and Internet for £7 a month. However when I received my welcome pack it said my monthly payment would be £15 a month. Like you I rang and was told that because I had my other services from them I was getting a special deal which was not generally available. I asked to have details of the conversation emailed. This arrived and I have been charged £7 each month without any problems. I do hope this helps you.
    This is my first post.

OP sounds about right for VM, why can't they just automate things, its beyond me. As an existing customer about five years ago had an offer of a free line rental phone line for twelve months along side my cable BB. First three months fine, then month four to twelve (every month) there as a charge for the phone line, every month I had to phone up to get the discount to cover the line charge, needless to say I gave notice to remove the phone line at the end of the twelve months (still have the BB).

But does this save anything ? I currently have tv , BB and landline . I have thought about cancelling the phone line but have heard that their payment structure gives no benefits for doing this

Check out the VM website to see what you could pay, don't just listen to hearsay.

In my case, 60Mb BB is £27.50, 60Mb BB with phone is £34.99. So for me a £6.99 per month saving as I don't need a land line, I have a VoIP number with local (01) prefix which is PAYG so no rental and a mobile with inclusive minutes.

However if you need a land line then £6.99 extra is a good price compared to their normal £14.99.

It you have TV, you are charged for the landline whether you take it or not - this has been the case since NTL/TW rebranded.
