Do you know. I really hate posts like this.

I just want to read the entire post and find out what happens without having to wait! :rotfl:

Can't wait to find out what happens. Oh, and what Kittenonthekeys does for a living :T
  • Voicemail this morning from reporter from his local newspaper!
Asked me to call back but I haven't as yet, and probably won't.
This is becoming surreal - where's it going to end?

    Dont call back.

I think this is bordering on harrassment, call his bluff by making a complaint to the Police who will pay him a nice visit.

    Best of luck Pal.

Oh wow; that's not good. PM me if you'd like any help drafting a press response (discretion as to nature of business assured!).

Best thing is to stay calm, do NOT give in to this bullying and stirring - and remember that there are laws to protect you if false and/or malicious statements concerning you and/or your business make it into the local rag: http://www.assignmentpoint.com/arts/law-of-defamation.html.

If you DO speak to the media, treat the accusation with disbelief. Calmly state your side and offer to supply evidence (in the form of the emails you have from the customer with contact details and anything else contentious redacted). The paper will drop the story if they can see it's a total non-starter and it's one bloke merely using them to rant (that's what the letters page is for!).

Above all, keep smiling - you have not done anything wrong. x

    :embarasse
    As you were!
Embarrassment all round and apologies too!
It was about something totally unconnected and the reporter just asking me a favour to help find a lost one of "those" things wot I repair!
Thanks for all your input - that'll teach me to jump the gun but I hope I can be forgiven as it was a total coincidence and the same area as this person lives in.
And I've never been contacted by the press before!

Don't speak to the press, don't speak to him, don't engage in any way. It might be time to report some concerns to the Police.

Happens to us all, my friend. And, given the present level of nonsense which you are unfortunately receiving at the moment I think it's perfectly natural that your thoughts instantly turned towards your charming correspondent on receiving the journalist's message.

Thanks v. much for that - starting to think I was getting paranoid! :)
