I can relate to this. I can never bring myself to send a sentimental card to my Dad. I always go for a jokey one.
It would be pointless to send anything else coz... He's not Dad of the year to me. I don't feel he's always done his best for me. So a jokey card means I've made the effort to send him one buts haven't lied through my teeth to say what an awesome Dad he is...coz to me he isn't .GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Good, Fathers Day is ages away, I was about to get on the phone to my family diary and reminder service, otherwise known as sister, to demand why I hadn't been informed of an upcoming event but she still has time0

I always buy blank cards for pretty much every occasion. I can't stand the twee drivel that's written in most cards and I usually hate the pictures - everything has either cutesy teddy bears or 'amusing' cartoons. Cards for older blokes are a nightmare - they seem to assume that every bloke over the age of fifty is either into wine, sheds, cars, golf, or sailing and is the best dad/grandad/uncle/brother/whatever EVER. Personally I'd rather pick a blank card with a nice picture that means something to the person I'm sending to to than some horrible card with a terrible poem in it.0

I send a card with a picture of a lovely beach to my stepdad. Last year I got a funky pigeon one where you could personalise the number plates of the 3 VW's, so I put Happy Fathers Day in them. But my stepdad is fab, so I like to give him a nice card. I don't know if I've ever sent one to my dad.
ETA: For someone who isn't the greatest dad in the world, I think just a 'happy father's day' covers it.
I like the funky pigeon 'pea' one. Hap pea fathers day. My husband loves peas, so it's our family 'joke' .... we keep it and send him the same one every year, very MSE52% tight0 -
Saw a great one the other day.

:rotfl: That's brilliant. Maybe there is a gap in the market for someone to come in with a range of cards for less than adequate parents...Dragon's Den anyone?First home purchased 09/08/2013
