My thought is that you don't know what you want/need except spending £35ish p.m. on something.

Also, 500Mb is a small allowance for iPhone 5 unless you use WiFi extensively and are very cautious.

I second the comment about 500 GB being insufficient for a smart phone... All too often customers are sold packages with smart phones that can result in them being charged each month for excess use, it's especially bad when it's part of a long term contract.

Smart phones can be used for all manner of "new" purposes. My other half uses her iPhone 5 to listen to radio stations at work as their IT equipment and metal clad building renders ordinary radios all but useless. Listening to Radio 2 most of the day eats up around 3 GB per month (hard to guess as she uses the phone for other things and may not listen for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week)... That is just one example.

I would look for an unlimited data package and with 4G arriving to all the networks soon, locking yourself into a contract lasting 18 - 24 months might leave you wishing for a change sooner than that. The current iPhone 5 will not give 4G on O2 or Vodafone, but looks to be compatible with 3 and EE. I am not sure about the S3 mini.

Also, 300 to 500 mins of talk time isn't much either... Neither the minutes nor the data allowance in those packages look worth the money to me.

What do you actually use in terms of calls/text/data at the moment? 200 mins between tariffs is quite a bit IMO, especially if you end up paying extra each month for an additional out of plan 200 mins.

Are you looking to buy a tablet?

£792 for the Samsung's and £666 for the iPhone assuming you stay within plan allowances. I'll ignore the cash back as you might not get that

Are you happy to tie yourself into such long contracts? Remember you will probably have over a year of your contract to run when the next iPhone is released.
