hello all, new to this site and new to the world of haggling. please could someone advise if the following is a good deal. we have just brought our first home so currently have no phone line. sky have offered to install the phone and Tele for free. their breakdown of charges for 12 months is: £14.50 line rental per month- free weekend calls only. unlimited broadband £7.50 per month(we live in a rural area so they advise we don't have the greatest download speed) all channels sports, movies etc any hd and 3d channelsaswell as on demand and they offered £25 m&s voucher also. at first they quoted £87.75 then they offered 25% off making it £65.37 per month for 12 months. the rep is calling back at 3pm tomorrow, do you think this is a good deal or should we hale more? i have seen the first three months free deals and even six months in the past but neither of these were offered. also we found out virgin do not cover where we live so cannot barter using them or vice versa. thanks so much for reading any advice greatly received.

Do you actually need the subscription channels? If not, then Freesat or Freeview will do the job at no cost.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

He means if you pay for the line rental up front you make a saving, you pay £119.40 and it works out as £9.95 a month, saving you £54.60 for the year on line rental
As for the price, if all the channels is what you want then its not a bad deal. Something to consider is if you are predominantly football fans then maybe don't add the sports yet, wait until the season starts (though check to see if the 25% off applies to the TV subscription)0 -
Hi there thanks for coming back to me, still waiting for sky to ring me back! Interesting about the line rental thanks for the tip, can I ask is weekend free calls all that sky offer? I thought they had free evening calls also??0

Only weekends (from Friday 7pm to Monday 7am)
If you wanted daytime or weekday evening calls then the only other option is the Anytime call package which is £5 per month (also includes 22 International destinations)0 -
Before you join, I subscribe to Sky and I can recommend you as a friend, if you're interested, PM me, all I need is your name and email address. Doing it via this route you will receive a reward of £75 voucher too.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
I wouldn't do recommend a friend as you have to pay full price but u get £75 vouchers.
As I understand it Sky can't stack offers
There's below the line offers like the money off u have been quoted.
Above the line - advertised anywhere
Don't think u can stack the two. Just one or the other0 -
Before you join up I would have a look at cash back sites like QUIDCO, or similar. Quidco are at the moment offering between £105 - £ 223 cashback plus free line rental etc for various months on various packages. I know cachback cannot be guaranteed, but provided you don't cancel its usually 95% sure of paying out. Another option is to trawl the internet and see if any Sky staff are offering codes to join up for half price for a year. They get these codes 2 or 3 times a year. Trawl the forums and ebay and you might get lucky but I certainly would check out Quidco before signing up over the phone.0
