Help with Car hire excess insurance, worth it?

Hi,

Im looking to take out excess insurance, but its not clear what I shouldn't take from the car hire company. Do I take the basic package, refuse the total excess deals and arrange my own insurance?. Either way I think I would have to stump up a large sum and then claim it back.

Comments

  • If you take the CDW insurance from the hire company you simply return the car in whatever condition, whereas if you take your own you have to stump up then claim back.

Shouldn't be a problem, as the Excess claim can be settled by the time that your CC bill is due.

Personally this is a no brainer. Icarinsurance annual policy is £39.99 for Europe with 21% cashback via topcashback. Most car hire cos. charge between £4 and £6 per day
