Extra leg room seats

Nonsense - plenty of 'visibly overweight' people sit in exit seats everyday, I did when I was bigger. The only time it causes a problem is when you are obese to the extent you would be a hindrance in the case of an emergency. It does sound like the OP would fall into this category.
I'm not talking just a little overweight Dogger. I mean really hefty when I say "visibly overweight"...not just a muffin top or big butt.
I've seen overweight people being forced to move on two occasions in the last two years. It must be so embarrassing for them. The last time, the guy said he'd booked and paid for the extra legroom seats and insisted on keeping them. He was threatened with being thrown off the flight and when he still refused, the flight attendant said the cops would be called and he could be charged with endangering an aircraft!! Apparently because he was impeding the exit row seats.0 -

Thanks for the info guys. Phoned Thomson and payed a little more to get extra leg room seats away from the exit.
Now I'm away to order a salad for lunch!0 -

You definitely cannot use seat belt extenders, but I and hubby are both overweight and sat in exit row seats a couple of years ago, was one of the holiday airlines, think it was Thomson0
