MIL has managed to pee me off already this morning so I am now feeling grumpy and annoyed
On top of that I have to go sign on at the job centre this morning which I am sure will only add to my mood:(
I am going to go for a swim at lunchtime and just have DS room to sort and the house is straight again. I should get the dog out this afternoon as the sun is out. We had torrential rain yesterday afternoon so he only got to go on the garden.
I must do something with the ironing mountain too.
DH is away again tonight so pasta and l/o garlic bread for tea again tonight. My name is XSpender and I am a carb junkie:o
I am debating with myself what I should do with our savings/redundancy money. I was planning on just saving it so it can be used to pay off the secured loan but I am about £2500 short or if we should clear the cards and the small 0% family loan which would still leave us a chunk of savings but would put back the secured loan settlement probably 6 months. Clearing the cards/loan would improve our cashflow by £250/month until I start work again. I will talk to DH about it at the end of the week.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Morning all
Wet and drizzly here today.
I have a job interview this afternoon. I am nervous and not confident about the job. It is a lot more senior position in a smaller company than my previous role and I am more nervous that I get it than the interview! I have the skills and experience do the job I just lack a bit (quite a lot:o) of self confidence.
I am not in an urgent rush to get a new job and I was contacted about this rather than applying direct so if it doesn't work out I can go back to my plan of starting to job hunt in July.
We have decided that we will clear the cards and small family loan with the saves/redundancy payout, just over £3500, which will leave us about £4000 in savings. This will save us £250/month which eases the budget a bit. If we don't touch anymore of my redundancy money I am still classing this as my 'don't touch the money' goal achieved
I went to the gym for a swim yesterday for the first time with my membership. I only need to go twice a week and I have more than covered my membership fee. I have had to cancel Zumba today as it clashes with my interview. I was really looking forward to it so will have to book for next week.
I haven't spent any money since Sunday. I don't need to buy any food until the weekend and only fresh stuff then. I will need diesel as the interview is about 40 minutes drive away.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Good luck :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Good luck for job interviewMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Thanks for the good wishes.:)
I had a call back within an hour of leaving and have a final interview on monday:eek: After discussing the job role I am much confident that it is a role I could do well in:)
Topped up the tank with diesel but that was the only spend yesterday.
HV coming to see DS this morning and then he is off to MIL and I am going to clean the bathroom and make bolognaise. I also need to do some prep for my interview on Monday. If the rain stays away dog will get a good walk too.
Small TT done to the holiday target pot. Funds received from ISA which has now been closed and will be dripped into club saver. I need to find a home for the balance of the savings when the redundancy money arrives.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Spends day today, £2063 to clear CC, £400 to repay MIL and £300 on 4 tyres and a car service:eek: oh and £54 on food and a tenner on booze;)
Yesterday we bought a new laptop:eek:
Can you tell the savings and redundancy pot have hit the account?
We just need to get the balance on the small card tomorrow and we will start next week with no unsecured debt:). The rest of the money will drip feed the club saver from an ISA I need to set up ASAP.
I got 2 £2 coins in my change today, the first ones I have got in weeks. I save them in my camper van money box towards buying a vw camper one day;)
Finally got the software sorted on the new laptop and after I have completed the presentation prep for my interview on Monday I am going to spreadsheet crazy:T:j. We haven't had a laptop for several years, just an iPad, so I can't wait to create some spreadsheets:DSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I am on tenterhooks waiting to find out if I was successful in the role I applied for. I should hear today or tomorrow. I had no intention of going back to work until DS starts school in September but this job is ideal. I am crossing everything I can.
Been to the lovely JC today and will start receiving JSA at the end of the week. I hadn't counted this is in my budgets so it is going straight over to my 'holiday £309 pot' which currently has a feeble £97.30 in it after MIL gave us a 'discount' on the money we owed her for paying it back early. If I don't get the job there will be another 2 weeks JSA not included in my budget to add to this pot which will mean I achieve my target. I'd rather have the job though ;-)
I have set up an ISA to drip feed the savings into the regular saver. I will have to do the transfer shenanigans myself but it will be worth it.
DH has never been as interested in paying off the mortgage as me but is really enthusiastic about the current balance in our savings and seeing that balance rise. Maybe this is the way we need to do it, save instead of overpay (we are on SVR of 2.5% IO) to keep his interest and all our savings are earning more than this.
We have made a bit of a boo boo though. DH CC is about £900 more than I thought it was so we have paid £550 off it and will clear the balance in 3 months if I get this job. If not we will pay as much as we can each month while still having the security of some savings.
There doesn't seem to be much left in the budgets this month; £50 food, £47 misc and entertainment but have agreed we will spend as little as possible on food for the rest of the month as we have a freezer groaning with food.
I have just had a look in the camper van piggy and I have £36 in £2 coins, collected since early May. We got loads on our holiday in the SE then none for a couple of weeks but they have started appearing in my change again. I'm not sure what I am saving them for or when it will be used but not until the end of the year at least.
Right, I am off to write a to do list for tomorrow and will report back :-)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Fingers crossed for you
Thank you, still not heard anything.
I am trying hard not to plan ahead as if I have got it and put the income into my spreadsheets to calculate what we can save over the next 6 months. OK, I am doing it then deleting it. I don't want to tempt fate!
Discovered that the reason one of my DDs hasn't come out is that I am in credit so I can move the money over to my '£309 holiday pot'. I only need to find £96 and I have hit it :-) If I include my JSA that I wasn't expecting I only need to find £22.
Plans for today are:
1) Sit by the phone willing it to ring with good news re job
2) Go for a swim if I can drag myself away from phone/laptop - done 44 lengths
3) Make something cakey - choc chip cookies using easter egg smashed up and cheese and herb bread
4) Clean kitchen sides, mop floor, shine sink - done
5) Another chair load of ironing
6) Order prescriptions - they are shut for training today
7) See if DH wants to get DS photos done at nursery. The last ones 2 years ago were fab but its a bit hit and miss isn't it?
8) Quick dog walk
9) Chase delivery of DH fathers day present from local supplier
10) Tidy bedroom, change and wash sheets - done
If I get time I will also order a settlement figure for secured loan and tidy one cluttered up area.
Oh yes, planning not to spend any money today either :-)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Didn't achieve much off my list yesterday but did 2 loads and stripped and remade the beds and ordered a settlement figure for the secured to check where we are with it.
I am feeling a bit demotivated and down in the dumps:(. DH is away until tonight, DS is still in child care everyday and I don't think I spoke to anyone but DS yesterday:( plus I am still waiting to hear one way or another about the job.
I am going to give myself a short to do list today as achieving everything may cheer me up a bit.
1) swim or dog walk - done 4.24 miles according to Map me Wark. It's further than I thought
2) find workout gear and wash it - it's not in the garage or under the bed!
3) general tidy up - done
4) make chicken, leek and bacon pie for a late tea with DH - chicken is defrosting
5) make fruit salad for pud and for lunch today and tomorrow
6) order prescriptions - done
7) chase delivery of DH gift as paid for it but not been in contact - being delivered in the morning
I also need to nip to sains for some milk and bananas.....ooo....that's a thought I could walk there and back as it is a gorgeous day and it would be about 3 miles or so. I will use the app on my phone to check.
My dodgy back is a bit sore after ironing and then swimming yesterday so this might be an idea as I have Zumba tomorrow night which I would really like to do and don't want to be too sore to enjoy it.
