Thanks you two last posters, at least you both get it....and to bengal-stripe, I would never 'pass off' a used item as an unused one!!

I hope the OP gets my post too because it solves the problem!

Totally agree with you, thats what I would do and have done previously on several items.
The item in question can be resold as it is still sealed in its original packaging.

Yes, agree totally, I've done it too. Can't see why this would beclassed as fraud.

Not sure which shop it is, might be Debenhams, but somewhere I was recently tried to sell me their store card with an added incentive that you could get the difference back if the store reduced the price within 28 days.

Gap and Gapkids do this for all customers, but only for 14 days after purchase (it's on the back of their receipts but not everyone knows about it).

You don't even have to take the item back if you see it cheaper, you just hand over your receipt at the till and ask them to check if any of your purchases have gone down in price, if they have they refund the difference. Very useful during the sales in July and after Christmas, if you are often in town anyway, just carry your Gap receipts for a couple of weeks and remember to ask.

Amazon.co.uk do this as well (but they do not advertise it) for up to a calendar month after purchase.
I got a nice sum back last Xmas because prices were reduced in their sale!

I just took wallpaper back to Wilkinsons for refund as they were all going for 1p a roll due to a refit.
I paid £6.99 a roll, 2 days previous, total of 22 rolls to cover new flat. (£153.78)
After seeing this, I took them back and got a refund. They chucked them straight in the penny bucket so I just walked over and picked the same rolls back up, went to the checkout, and paid a penny a roll. The person in front of me in the queue did exactly the same!
    WHOLE HOUSE DECORATED FOR 22P!!!!

Bargain of the year, or to some people on this post...
    FRAUD!!!
Well, I don't care what anyone thinks because that £153.56 that I saved in the decorating department! I bought my carpets with the savings!!!...

Sorry but this is a ridiculous post! It's the OP's receipt and the same item!

....but why am I not surprised that someone on MSE thinks that taking an unopened item back with your own receipt within the store's own 28 day policy is 'fraud' .

    Are you for real?

tantamount - that means kind of / nearly

you are returning one item with the receipt for another co your !!!!!! that you missed out on the bargain

my own :confused: smiley would be trying to figure out how the minds of some people work :confused:

The trampoline and its packaging cannot be unopened, as it took the OP some two hours to erect the thing. It's also fair to presume that the child/ren took possession of the item, by bouncing up and down.

What is it in your books, to return a used item, pretending it had never been used? Would you like to be the next customer and buy that particular trampoline, that has been played on for several weeks?

This is different - you are returning the EXACT item for which the receipt if for (not *swapping* them)

    Well done you :T

No, i think the plan is:
1st dearer trampoline stays in the garden
2nd cheaper trampoline gets returned with receipt for 1st within the necessary 28 days

I'd do this, but I'm a stingy git and £35 is a whole lotta money to me

Maybe this sounds like double standards but ^^^^ made me chuckle - cathy is totally HONEST about why she would do the above.

Not trying to sugar coat it into an *I deserve to and its fair coz I missed the offer*!!
