Where do I stand getting the difference back?

HIya,

I recently bought a childs 10ft trampline from Asda, paid £99.00 for it, erected it, (over 2 hours), job done. Now the same item is now £65.00, less than 4 weeks later. a few ponds wouldn`t trouble me or in another shop wouldn`t be so bad, but £35.00 difference in the exact same shop.

Do i have any cause for complaint here?

mnay thanks in advance.

not really, as long as it had been on sale for 28 consecutive days at the original price in one or more stores then they can drop the price as they wish.

No different to buying an outfit a couple of days before the sales then finding it reduced.

I thought that some store would take into consideration the time frame involved, I bought it on 3/05/07, so it`s just over 3 weeks ago. Not really a long time before a drastic price drop.
Thanks for your advice, I will quietly stew and fume in the corner.
  • isnt there a saying with asda that if your not 100% satisfied with the product you can have a 100% money back gaurenteed???

if this is the case take it back for a refund of 99 pounds an re buy it at 65

    just an idea

Did you buy it instore? If so you are within the 28 day no-quibble returns policy so you can do things the other way round, no argy-bargy needed, if you have the receipt?

Go and re-buy it this weekend at the cheaper price. Keep it in the car boot and take it back half an hour (or a day or so) later with THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT.

This is fine, it's your receipt and you are returning an unwanted item under their policy. But you must do the return by the 28th day.

Even if you bought it online you can maybe order another one in time to return it to your nearest store as unwanted, with your ORIGINAL proof of purchase. I think the store might take back items ordered online but I don't have experience of this.

Hmmmm, is this not tantamount to fraud?

What would you have done if the price had increased by £35. Would you be beating their door down to pay the extra? I don't think so.

Same here Invested some money in Glaxo shares - they have fallen 8% in 3 days - do you think the brokers will give me my money back - of course not as it was my decision and responsibilty to invest in the first place.

Sorry but this is a ridiculous post! It's the OP's receipt and the same item!

....but why am I not surprised that someone on MSE thinks that taking an unopened item back with your own receipt within the store's own 28 day policy is 'fraud' .

If it is then I commit fraud every December by doing this after xmas, and I also did so this week in Sainsburys by rebuying clothing I had recently bought, because it's currently reduced 25% off (or in your book I will be committing fraud when I take the unused items back with MY original receipt later).

IMHO this is how moneysavers SHOULD shop!:T

The trampoline and its packaging cannot be unopened, as it took the OP some two hours to erect the thing. It's also fair to presume that the child/ren took possession of the item, by bouncing up and down.

What is it in your books, to return a used item, pretending it had never been used? Would you like to be the next customer and buy that particular trampoline, that has been played on for several weeks?

No, i think the plan is:
1st dearer trampoline stays in the garden
2nd cheaper trampoline gets returned with receipt for 1st within the necessary 28 days

Totally agree with you, thats what I would do and have done previously on several items.
The item in question can be resold as it is still sealed in its original packaging.
I can only please one person per day.
    Today is not your day.
Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.
