    GREASY HAIR

Try to avoid daily washing. The sebaceous glands are overstimulated, secreting more grease onto the hair. This creates a vicious circle where the more you wash is the greasier it becomes.

Another problem with regular washing is that although the roots are greasy the rest of your hair is stripped of oil and the ends become dry and brittle. Use a mild ph-balanced shampoo and wash hair without rubbing the scalp too much. Only apply conditioner to the mid and ends rather than at the roots.

Watch your diet. Oily and fatty foods can contribute to greasy skin and scalp. Best of all is to use those days when you're at home to give your hair a rest from daily washing. Try using a children's shampoo as these are often mild enough for greasy hair.

I have tried not washing my hair for 3 days - I didn't go out of the house though! It was minging and just as greasy next time I washed it. I have over the last 30 years used all different types of shampoo but they don't make a difference. I have rinsed my hair in vinegar, washed it with egg whites mixed with something, none of them worked. I do alternate the shampoo I use every day and I only shampoo once now. I use VO5 colour protect and fructis for coloured hair shampoos. For conditioner I use Treseme for coloured hair which is very light and you only need a small bit.

I don't have dry ends - on the contrary, hairdressers tell me my hair is in fantastic condition - the advantage of very greasy hair! I don't suffer from greasy skin though - it's just normal.

Don't worry about it. For ages I used to wonder who lol was and why his name kept popping up at random.

I tend to wash my hair every day because it is greasy, and also because it gets dirty at work some days (I'm a fitter) but my hairdresser recommended trying to cut back on washing to no more than every two days as it washes all the good oils out of your hair.

Slowly but surely over the past few months I am down to two days between washes, started off washing it one night, then the morning of the day after, and trying not to wash it at the weekends if we weren't going anywhere special.
Now I can wash it one morning and it doesn't look totally gross by the next morning like it used to, and now on the second day I can put a bit of mousse on it and it doesn't look too bad.

Having said all that I went and got it permed yesterday, so I'm sitting here looking a bit like Kevin Keegan used to-:rotfl: I'm not allowed to wash my hair until at least tomorrow, but since the hairdresser put loads of product on it,it feels a bit crunchy:eek:

I would go back and complain otherwise they'll just do it again to some other poor teenager who is too shy to say anything.
