Cancelling YouView with BT Vision

Options
BT offered me a YouView box for "free" (but there were activation and delivery charges, so not really free), with a £5/month BT Vision subscription. I accepted, and have been happy with YouView for nearly a year.

The 12 month BT Vision subscription will expire soon. For my £6.50/month (the price went up), I receive absolutely nothing.

I can access BT Vision, but everything on there is an extra charge. So, my question is, if I cancel my BT Vision, will I lose any functionality on the YouView box?

Having previously cancelled a Sky subscription, they also remove the ability to record (which I think is rather naughty of them). I don't want to lose any of YouView's functionality.

Thanks

YouView is a freeview box, you won't lose any functionality if you cancel your BT Vision subscription. You will of course need an internet connection to access the catch up players.

You can happily cancel away (and your doing the right thing too if your on PAYG) and it won't affect the functionality of your box.

Sky is a subscription service, Freeview is not. Totally different things.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks for the replies. I certainly won't lose the Freeview part of the system. Was just wondering if anyone knew whether BT would stop other aspects of the service (ie access to iPlayer / ITV Player / 4OD etc. Couldn't care less about losing access to BT Vision.

All you will lose is the BT-specific on-demand content access.
If you had bought a YouView box outright, all of them allow access to the on-demand content that is not subscription based.

No, you won't lose any of the catch up TV, as thats nothing to do with BT.
