Two options available then if you are thinking of installing a stove.

    1) Build new brick / class 1 clay lined chimney and link into existing chimney stack, install stove Defra approved for smokeless area.

    2) Build new stud frame / fire proof stud work, install twin wall stainless insulated liner and link into existing chimney or twin wall all the way if exterior wall, install Defra approved stove for smokeless area.

Both are going to be expensive, approved stoves for a decent make and one that is approved for use in smoke free areas ( if the property is in one ) are not cheap you would be looking anywhere between £500 - £2000 just for the stove, the liner in the second option costs vary but you can easily expect to pay around the £50 - £80 per meter plus fitting, average 10M height required.

Expensive just for a feature !
