why is his brother the registered keeper?

If your OH can prove that he paid for it, then he should be okay (insurance may deduct money for him not being registered keeper though).

  • It's on finance his brother helped him buy it the plan was for my boyfriend to pay his brother in the next few years for it he put a bit of money down for the deposit tho

    Oh dear.

The payout will go to the finance company, with anything left over going to the brother. They'll have to sort it out between themselves.

Although the insurers could well void the policy completely because of your OH lying. Why on earth did he do that?

  • We expected that anyway about e finance and he didn't lie he's extremely dyslexic thought it meant is he the owner of the insurance claim.
If it put did you buy the car he would of put no.
A simple mistake on his half so is it looking like they will void?
    Thanks for the help

insurers ask "are you the registered owner and keeper of the car?"

Not sure how he could have misunderstood that!!

  • No it asked
    Are you the owner?
And he was the keeper he was the on that used it.
And like you said why would he lie?
And would it make any difference we all live in the same house?

Living in the same house won't make any difference to the error.

Get him to ring in and explain and take it from their response.

Come back for more advice if needed after hearing what they say.
  • He's on the phone now doesn't sound good looks like there not going to.
    Thanks or your help

If the finance is in the brother's name then he isnt legally the owner. If the V5 is in his brother's name (and it will be because of the finance) then he's not the registered keeper either.

Can you really not see why it would matter?!
