    I agree with this.

OP, I'm not being funny here, and I understand that you're in the position that you're in through no fault of your own, but as an employer of 250, with a further 70 jobs being advertised in the next 6 weeks, your posting style doesn't exactly put me in the position that I'd want to employ you, and this may be your issue here.

I started working in one of the areas like you mentioned, and wouldn't have wanted to have left, had it not been for young kids, and needing to be with family (I'm still 40 minutes from my sister, and an hour my childhood home in the other direction), however if there's little work locally, would you not be best to look outside the area, if you're serious about getting back into work?

You may be in the position with JSA soon where you could have a 90 minute commute, with sanctions for not following instructions, and moving with a van and rental deposit assistance (some areas) could cost £2-300. I moved a young family last week for 2 days' van hire and £30 in diesel; total cost £70. If it's still not a short-term consideration now, then it may be worth seeing what's available in the nearest large town.

Whilst I understand that many companies are tightening their belts, we've moved from 10 employees to just over 250 in less than 4 years, and I know of several other companies to do this, so there are just as many rapidly expanding. I don't know about your part of the country, or your previous profession, but we're in London.

Thanks for the advice that was neither patronizing, sarcastic or insulting, I appreciate it.

To the others, I said in the post I apologise for the length but there is little point in me posting without explaining all the circumstances and then expecting advice that is applicable to me is there? :s

Moving is something I would consider but it not exactly practical in my current circumstances and obviously is not something you'd do in the short-term, it takes a lot of planning and obviously substantial finances so it's not a solution off the bat.

Precising is a useful skill to master for many kinds of employment and you could have written the relevant information in about a quarter of the words. This was why I suggested you do that.
