Help! getting different broadband test speeds

I decided to do a broadband speed test today as my connection has been a been dodgy recently. Anyway I went to the broadband speed checker page to gauge what kind of speed I have coming to the house. I decided to use the Ethernet cable from my Virgin router to my laptop as that should give me the best reading/good indication of what I should be getting, then I got a wireless reading and that was the one which was not very good. Any reason for the big discrepancy? (29mb with cable/11mb without)

Possibly interference, try a different wireless channel.
Download inSSIDer, and scan for interference, then change to an unoccupied one. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Okay! I will try that first.0

The wireless performance of the VM Superhub has been the subject of numerous complaints so that may also be a factor.
If you only have a "G" wifi adapter which shows a maximum 54Mbps connection speed it will never exceed ~24Mbps anyway even under ideal conditions. If it is "N" then it should handle a 30Mbps VM connection OK but might struggle on 60Mbps and I seriously doubt that the Superhub' own wireless is capable of 100Mbps.0
