Plausible, however not in every case as the belt may not be long enough - I have this with the pebble seat BUT not sure if its an issue with the belted base as we never checked. If you wanted to go down this road then ensure you get BOTH cars checked by the test fit service as not all seats/bases are compatible with all cars. We had a right nightmare with the Almera due to the way the rear bench was designed!

IIRC, the maxicosi ISOFIX base was £120ish on its own. We got our seat and base from Kiddiecare as a combo with a really good deal!

As for returning, they are usually fine as long as none of the tags or "cant be used unless removed zip ties" have been removed.

Only problem is they whipped it out of the box when they were showing us how to fit so we don't have the box at all.

Don't buy car seats from Mothercare - they're idiots.

I didn't think money was a problem for you....?

Confused. Where'd you get the idea that money is not a problem for me? And what's the relevance of that?

As it happens, no its not an issue if something costs a little more but, I still don't want to waste £130 on a car seat I won't use.

We had similar issues - 2 cars without isofix, and 1 with. We bought 1 maxi cosi cabriofix and 2 bases - 1 isofix, one belt fitting, plus pram adaptors. So I suppose we spent about £350 in total on them. At 9 months we spent another £300 on a rear facing isofix seat for the one car, and £200 on a kiddy seat for any other car/when she grows out of the rear facing one.

The group 0 seat and bases are now being used for one of my nephews.

It's only money, and you could do worse than spending it keeping your child comfortable and safe. ;)

It all depends on the person serving you at the end of the day. We had car seats trial fitted into ours and they could not be more helpful, however I had my credit card out ready to buy a whole bunch of stuff and 1 of them turned around and said don't bother just yet, and started to push their "buy now, pay over x months, deliver x date" and kept going on and on, in the end I just turned around and walked out and bought my stuff elsewhere and saved myself a small fortune!

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/sep/17/child-car-seats-motoring

"Mothercare's website says: "Having your child's car seat fitted safely is very important. With our 'free safe fit' service one of our trained fitting experts will be happy to check that the car seat you buy fits both your child and your car."

But in the tests three staff recommended models that didn't suit the car. Which? said staff "were reading facts from seat labels, rather than knowing products well"."

Mothercare sell no extended rearfacing car seats. Therefore they're not to be trusted as far as car seat advice is concerned.

Hi, we have a maxi cosi pebble, and this fits in a isofix base (in my car) and without it (belted) in DH's car which doesnt have the isofix in the car.

    HTH Gops x

ETA, the maxicosi isofix base does have the supporting leg though! You could just not use the isofix and just belt it in?

I use a pebble without a base even though i have isofix points.
