Arrggggggggg I today bought a USB thing called a Sony 550 gb HD-EG5
After much pratting around with it my PS3 finally recognised it after I first FAT32'd it, or whatever it was called on my laptop.
We despite it recognising it when I go back into playstation store and click download it still says "There is not enough free space on the system storage":mad::mad::mad::mad:
I spent 48 quid on this bloody thing, how can I get it to work, so £96 quid spent in 2 days and nothing to show for it.
I wasted 4 hrs pratting around with it! ' even tried going online to download game staright to memory stick but still no joy.
Just think of it as a challenging computer game, you'll get to level 2 eventually.0 -

You need to increase the system storage space, on the side of your PS3 you can remove a plastic flap that gives you access to the hard drive. You need to remove this hard drive and replace it with a bigger one. You might find that the hard drive inside the external storage case you bought will fit quite nicely.
If you are not experienced in replacing PS3 components, you may prefer to take it to a local knowledgeable computer store to do it for you.0 -

Sounds like it can't write software to the external disk. Do you have pictures, video etc on your PS? You could transfer those over and that should free up space so you can install the game. You may be able to move saved game data over too.
Edit: Just to add to the grammar sub-topic, my pet hate is "your" instead of "you're"0
