CONCLUDING THIS-AND answering my own question, i found a company in gloucester-Chris Mullins tyres.
I appreciate this is not an advetising forum, but simply to add that this company had nice premises, performed a quick and i thought very reasonably priced repair, including the 'slime' clean out.they did it without any fuss/drama at all.
very pleasant/helpful on both reception and operatives themselves
I notice good service-but rarely comment-but in this instance-they are well worthy of positive comment ,and they will receive my custom for future tyre replacement.
i do not know if they have other branches in the south west/midlands0 -
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere-but first time i have ventured onto the motoring forum.
My wife had a puncture-repaired on site by AA with 'slime' instant repair
(and we are grateful to the AA accordingly who gave good service at the time )
a bit frustrating that they then made a biggish issue about how the puncture can be repaired and it will not need a tyre and how a 'slime temporary repair is repairable and does not need a new tyre-gave us lots of leaflets etc.
Needless to say-have tried kwik fit/halfords and two independents who all say they will not repair a 'slime' repair and AA are wrong.
A bit annoying as it is a newish tyre-would not mind if AA had said from start it is non repairable -but made a big thing of it-and it seems we will afterall have to pay for a new tyre and not a further repair.
Has anyone encountered similar-or better still had a tyre repaired that did have a 'slime' repair.?
are the AA simply wrong ?
many thanks

The AA and RAC used to be excellent members associations who looked after their members like family.
Now they are just the same as the rest of the rip off , lying and cheating insurance companies !0
