£30000, what to do with it

Well, you could blow the lot like that if you want-but what then?
Honestly, finish your degree, and invest 2/3 of it in s&S isas over the next two years. then get a job, join the pension then maybe buy a house etc.
have to start fresh at university, so would have to be top flight etc.0 -
i've been following this guy...google barefoot spread betting
Any website that starts with this line would set my spidey sense tingling "I'm Oliver Tomahawk. I turned £30k into £105k between Nov '12 and May '13 spread betting UK stocks"
Fair dues to him if he did.
The other way of looking at it is "Google Usain Bolt. He can run 100 metres in under 10seconds". I know that I can definitely NOT do that. can you?

I would recommend finishing your degree and doing this in the cheapest way possible (Open University might be worth a ponder as you can continue living with your family until you complete your degree) and then go travelling. You could subside your travels with jobs such as TEFL (you will need a degree to do this type of work), bar work, farm work etc.
Even if you are remotely tempted by travelling, I would take the opportunity to do it. Not many people are so lucky on this planet.
Once you have this out of your system, you could then start the whole 9-5:30, mortgage, 2.5 kids etc etc if this is what you think will make you happy.
I wouldn't recommend spread betting though.
Good luck OP0 -

the danger with travelling is that i will spend the lot. i started making electronic music, my passion, and COULD carry on with that would love to have a career out if it but how many attempting to do the same thing? need to be competitive whatever arena i enter.
uni would be fresh start. so oxbridge, lse, imperial if we are to go anywhere to lead to a good job, and when i mean good i mean at least a 28k starting, 40k being top end at a bank but age isn't on my side at the moment.0 -

A russell group with a good degree is enough.
My son got a double in Politics and Economics at Bham, and has started a grad job on the salary you say you need, and will be on 40K+ in 2 years.
doesn't have to be oxbridge. you just need to finish a good degree in a good subject. Not a 2.2 in something silly from a former poly.
If music is your thing, you don't need an expensive degree. You just need to be good enough/talented enough.0
