Ok but on the card that you are using to pay with - wouldn't that be treated as a cash advance? It wouldn't be treated as a purchase, right?0

The payment registered on my Cap One statement as mail\phone order and counted towards my purchases, no cash advance was triggered when I made this payment.
This was Cap One so not sure how other credit card companies handle this. I pretty sure I made a payment via my Vanquis as well (to my Creation card) and no cash advance was triggered. As far as I am aware, in my case of payment of a credit card by a credit card, it was not treated as a cash advance. Maybe it is not the norm but in this case, it wasn't treated as a cash advance.
This is very good to hear
Potentially it might be a way to get a balance transfer without the fee (effectively)!0 -

You can balance transfer but it doesn't count against the monthly minimum repayment.
Not relevant to the OPs question, but for clarity, a balance transfer does count towards the minimum payment on the card which receives it. It's a payment, like any other - only refunds don't count (unless the refund clears the full balance).0 -
I expect they'll now close this loophole inside a week. The curse of MSE strrikes again.
This has (with Creation, anyway) been documented on here a number of times before. God knows why they accept it, as one would assume they have to pay a 2-3% fee to accept credit card payments, like any retailer would...0 -

I've just applied for the AMEX CC with 5% cashback in first 3 months and was going to pay my Natwest CC off with it to get the cashback as i have the money sat in a savings account to pay the card off in full so i'm hoping it works.0

Correct. I went for about 6 months using BTs to keep the plates spinning!0
