Not comparing like with like, there were significant improvements from 98 to XP, the same cannot be said about Vista.
Again, another sweeping generalisation from personal opinion. I suppose Microsoft spent 5 years of development just making pretty graphics?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I have to say vista is better compared to my XP laptop and the number of new features are worth it in my opinion, that's what's surprising me with "so many requests" for an older OS with fewer features. Not comparing like with like, there were significant improvements from 98 to XP, the same cannot be said about Vista.
I have no problem with any company making money, however this is just tantamount to daylight robbery.
Anyway, think what you like, Dell have received so many requests for XP that they have included it back on their listings.Blackadder: Baldrick, I have a very, very, very cunning plan.

Blackadder: Yes it is.
Baldrick: Hmm... that's cunning.0 -

Windows Aero - nice visual effect on windows etc.
Flip 3D - visual effect for ALT + TAB when switching between windows
Instant search located on the start menu - finds any file rapidly
Sidebar - provides weather, time & date, Instant messaging, notes, and new gadgets being developed all the time, etc.
Shadow Copy - automatically archives files for safekeeping/backup purposes
High Definition Windows Movie Maker - self explanatory.

Just set up a new Dell 6400 laptop for a friend - Core 2 Duo, 1G RAM, 256MB ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 HyperMemory™ graphics. Not a poor spec by any means.
It's got Vista Business - and it ran like a dog:eek:
20 Seconds just to open Control Panel - even after removing Mcafee and putting AVG on it:-(
That's why people want XP - need to wait a few more months for the hardware to catch up with the resource hog that is Vista.Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -

I would like to add that we should compare Vista out of the box over XP as Im sure someone will pop up with "well you can download this add-on and then this add-on and this and that." etc etc. to XP and you can get something simliar to some features of Vista. So im just mentioning it beforehand.
I would like to add to your list the
Snipping tool - Very useful
Windows Update - Much better integration and how it runs.
Schedule Defragmentation - Yep set it and leave it.
More detailed - Views and information.
All Programs menu- I prefer the new menu than the old one.
File Tagging - More control over Files/folders
Its more Secure - As confirmed by many IT Security Firms its more secure than XP
That just a few more in addtions to dellfanatics list that I can think of, off the top of me head.0 -
