Fiancee's Hen Party

Hi all,

I've been looking online and couldn't find any help so thought I would post on here.

After just coming back from my brilliant stag weekend away in Bristol with my mates, I feel my fiancee is secretly underwhelmed by what is being organised for her hen. My understanding is she is having a pamper party type thing one night followed by perfume making, a meal and a few drinks the following day / night - all quite local to where we are.

She doesn't have a head bridesmaid but her sister has done most of the organising as he best friend and my sister who make up the 3 bridesmaids seem to have had little involvement - partly down to where they live - but also all 3 of them don't really know one another.

Anyway........ getting back to the point i'd like to organise a surprise - perhaps a visitor to the house where they are having a pamper party or some sort of suggestion when they go out the following day?

Obviously you can organise a stripper which I don't think I could do for my future wife and mother of our child but i'd like some ideas on how I can help last minute with it being this coming weekend.

Any web links or comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you asked her how she feels about it? :)

  • How about a nice afternoon tea?

I went on one for my friends hen do and we really felt treated.

Is there a posh hotel near by?

actually she seems to be doing quite a bit for her hen do...and presumably with friends etc.

I guess you need to decide is she someone who would like a big grand gesture or would she feel really touched that you organised something special for her say at the meal?

if you want something understated but thoughtful how about a bouquet of flowers at resturant where they have the meal..with some lovely words attached,or a bottle of champagne for the girls to toast their night.

You could possibly hire a limo to take them all to the pamper afternoon...bit pricey maybe... but it depends what your budget for the surprise would be and if thats the sort of thing that your fiancee might like.

as regards to a visitor...simply wouldnt have a clue what to suggest sorry!

What do you mean by 'a visitor to the house'?

Her hen do sounds fine to me, why has she said to make you think she won't like it so much?

Thanks for the replies so far. I think there has just been a lot of chasing with the hen party and I guess with a lot being mothers to young children its hard for people to commit to things, especially with money involved. I think she may have just felt jealous as my best man organised me a great weekend with no problems whilst she has had a few problems before it even started! That said, the majority of my stag party have little other responsibilities so I guess that's just the way it is.

The flowers / Champagne suggestion is good.

The only posh hotel is the one we're getting married at! And I kind of want to to make a gesture without treading on anyone's toes or potentially taking too much time up so so something like flowers or champagne sounds the best thing so far!

What is involved with the pamper party? Maybe find out from her mates and arrange some seperate pampering for her that morning, to help her relax and get in the mood for enjoying all the surprises her friends have arranged. Adding to what they have done might end up with you stepping on a few toes inadvertently.

Could you book her in with her favourite salon to have her hair done, a massage, luxury manicure and pedicure etc?

My OH had a bottle of champagne behind the bar for me at my hen night.

    It was a great surprise

What about getting a friend who is a good photographer to call round at the restaurant and take some photos of them?

In addition to the Champagne and flowers for the bride you could have a table decoration sent to the restaurant. A large bottle of her favourite perfume could be added into the mix and delivered with the flowers by the florist.

How about arranging for a mixologist to go to the house while they are having their pamper party, to serve them some cocktails. You can get the ones that throw the bottles around a bit which makes it like entertainment as well.
