Hi mizer_uk the terms and conditions state the Canon A710 IS is only available from Jessops (Pixmania is a Jessops company).it can be bought elsewhere but I doubt you wold be able to claim the cashback check out the terms and conditions of the offer on the canon website http://www.canon.co.uk/powershotpromotion/

Pixmania is owned by DSG, and has nothing to do with Jessops. Not everything that's cheap is a bargain0 -
well i bit the bullet and ordered the a640 from amazon. here's hoping it's as reliable as my other canon has been... and that canon pay up...
is there any point doing recorded/special delivery to the freepost address? my only fear now is that the camera will arrive too late for me to turn around the claim in time for their deadline...
presumably the form can't be submitted until the camera actually arrives, as you need the serial number, right?0 -
Woo-hoo, got my cheque for £60 from Canon yesterday!:j
Was starting to get a bit worried!0 -
I've bitten the bullet on this one too.
Ordered a Canon A710 IS from Amazon. Good reviews here too http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona710is/
Had been looking for a camera anyway, so this offer came at just the right time! :T
Looks as though the cashback form needs to be back by 7th June - just hope delivery doesn't take too long, as mentioned above the serial number of the camera does need to go on the form!

That's a good point Tony. I have gone the same route as you so I also wonder when we will receive it. However if it is not here by a reasonable time I will contact Canon to see what they say.

I was surprised though to see that it was not Canon but Pixmania who will be sending this. I was also disappointed to be charged for the p&p as I thought Amazon were free.0 -

I hate to worry you but did you actually buy it from Amazon or just off their website as with the A710 is if you look on the link in the top right corner it is sold by Pixmania and not Amazon and I think Pixmania are based in France so it wouldn't be UK stock so it wouldn't qualify for the rebate.
In fact Amazon don't sell the A710 is and it says on the Pixmania link delivered from France supplied with a UK mains adaptor.0 -
I'm afraid I agree with chrisiow. Amazon have got rather sneaky and deliberately (in my opinion) tried to make it less obvious when you are buying from a 3rd party and not from Amazon.
If you miss the small print on the web page then the other sure sign of this is being charged for delivery.
As I said in my original post the Canon T&C say you can only buy the A710IS from Jessops, though I have heard suggestions on another forum that they might still refund you as long as it's a UK company. To have not bought from Jessops and bought from a non-UK company means you chances of getting the money are pretty much zero.
Good luck getting the rebate, but I don't think you have much hope. Pixmania also have a reputation for poor customer service.0 -
Well, the camera arrived Wednesday AM and it's superb! Got the Canon case and a Transcend x150 2GB SD card from Amazon for about a tenner each, they arrived today (Friday 1st June 07). Sent the form for my £50 cashback to Canon on Thursday, and I'll post here when (if?) it arrives. Cheers!0

good to hear. just out interest, what paperwork did you send to canon? the initial email order confirmation, or the invoice/receipt that comes in the package, or both?0 -
Thanks for the posts above. If what you say about Pixmania is true then it was too late to do anything about. The content of your posts suggest the terms are unclear which suggest that if I had to take legal action against Amazon I would have a good case for misrepresentation. I have dealt with as far as I was concerned Amazon UK. So lets see what happens.
The camera arrived today and the delivery guy just left it in the porch. The packaging was poor. All in all not a good start.
I think I will look at the terms to see if I can return it. Maybe that will be the best course of action.0
