Canon cameras cashback offer is back

I've found the Canon A710 IS for £159.99 inc VAT. Does anyone know if https://www.BuyACamera.co.uk is on Canon's list as a 'participating retailer' so that I can get the £50 discount this weekend (end of May 2007)?
http://www.buyacamera.co.uk/xsearch.asp?RecId=CANCA280&pt=p
If they are, then I could get a further £50 off, otherwise I'll have to go with a company such as Jessops which is £199.99 to start with - not such a spectacular deal.

Hi mizer_uk the terms and conditions state the Canon A710 IS is only available from Jessops (Pixmania is a Jessops company).it can be bought elsewhere but I doubt you wold be able to claim the cashback check out the terms and conditions of the offer on the canon website http://www.canon.co.uk/powershotpromotion/

Hi hgv, I got the details about the 'participating retailer' by reading the Canon terms and conditions. The BuyACamera web site now has the Canon cashback offer on its home page - which would be false advertising if they didn't support the scheme, so if I'm right, I can get the A710 for £116.98 inc VAT and delivery. That's a good deal - they are selling on Ebay 2nd hand or reconditioned for £140!0

Hi mizer_uk I dont know about false advertising as if you follow the canon link on the buya camera website it also states the same as canons only available from Jessops, maybe they are part of the Jessops group,if it was me I would phone up and check with them. The cash back does not come from the retailer but from Canon.definately worth the price of a call or email,
hope this helps.

i would be very wary if i were you, mizer... if you go to the product page for each of the cameras included in the offer, the cashback banner/box is there... except for the A710, where it is conspicuously absent.
on the other hand, if this site is reliable, it means you could get the A630 for £93.98, which is a bit of a bargain.0 -
Ferris, wary shmary
I've just ordered one, so I'll let you know how I get on! The offer is by Canon, and Canon specifically include the A710, so I don't suppose the retailer really cares. Now to get the Canon case off Amazon for £10.99. It was raining all day today, and I just had to buy something ;-) 0 -

you're a brave 'un, mizer
the only reason i said be wary is Canon's own blurb seems to limit the offer on A710 to purchases from Jessops. but i guess if they're just processing a whole load of claims they probably won't enforce that too rigidly... good luck!
just out of interest, and as i'm a perpetual procrastinator, does anyone know whether this offer runs till midnight tuesday 29th, or just until the end of bank holiday monday?0 -
Well, now it's Tuesday and the shop is open I rand BuyaCamera (01257 426054) and they confirmed that the £50 cashback does apply to the A710. He also thought I was worried about not getting my order in the qualifying time period, and said that I will be fine as yesterday's date is on the order. I guess that implies that today (29th) would be no good? Perhaps the dates are inclusive to exclusive?0

Just phoned Buyacamera-Canon cashback is def on until 11.59 tonight (Tuesday) so get in quick! I have a A640 on its way for £176.99 plus £6.99 delivery. With £60 coming back from Canon, this is a fantastic deal for £123.98!0

Edit Guess you do just re read OP massage
I've had 4 cashbacks from Canon over the past 18 months or so. Sometimes they take a little while to come through, but they've always paid up.
Makes sure you read and follow the T&Cs though.
Thinking of buying a 70-200 2.8 IS L lens at the moment, which comes with a very healthy cashback deal.
Canon generally do two of these cashback deals a year - one in spring, one in autumn. Not everything that's cheap is a bargain0
