Waah my item didn't arrive bad naughty seller

My buyer: 'Ahem, have you posted my item at all? It hasn't arrived.'

Me: 'Yes, some time ago. If it doesn't turn up shortly I will refund.'

I will, too. Not without some misgivings: as someone who has NEVER EVER NOT ONCE had a piece of mail to me go missing (except the one sent by the scumbag who I know damn well never sent it in the first place, whatever he alleged) then: well, I ain't saying tomatoe and i ain't saying tomarto. I'm Jest Sayin'. as they say.

I'll refund. And then I'll leave a neutral fb, just stating that the buyer advised non-arrival of item and I refunded.

Doesn't seem excessive to me, considering I'll be out financially, even after a RM claim. Nobody's calling anybody a liar: just putting a regrettable incident on record.

Of course, if everybody followed this policy, the trail left by anybody pulling regular fast ones would become pretty clear...

What's your policy?

My policy is to post stuff with a traceable method of delivery - especially if its worth more than standard mail protection.

You'll leave a neutral? Why? How is it the buyer's fault that they didn't receive the item?

I can't see why you are assuming your buyer is lying? As a buyer if you left me a neutral for daring to mention my item hadn't arrived I would neg you for bad selling practices.

If you can't prove it has arrived then it is likely it has been lost in the post, and believe me things do go astray as I know to my cost. I am more likely to assume an item has got lost than that my buyer is trying it on. You say in your post that you are not calling your buyer a liar, but that's what you are doing in effect for blaming them for not getting the item.

Refund through gritted teeth if necessary, but refund politely. By all means leave a mention in feedback that item was refunded, but make it a positive not a neutral.

    I agree with above...

If as a buyer I didnt receive my item, and was given neutral feedback for mentioning it...I would neg the seller.

Oooh... thought that would get a reaction.

Look at it the other way. Some people have expressed very strong opinions on here to the effect that a buyer can neg or neutral as they please since that reflects their total experience.

A neutral ISN'T a neg, remember: it's neither good nor bad. I can't honestly say such an outcome is a GOOD experience.

No, I'm not saying everyone (or even a majority) lie in such circs. Just that there's literally no way of knowing.

I dunno, maybe you're right. But I can see it both ways. Those are some darn vehement reactions you got going on!

If not sent by Special delivery, why did you not insure it to the full value?
I tend just to use standard parcels for items up to about £50-£60, but I always insure them, for the extra £1.00, it's worth the peace of mind.
How would you feel if you leave a neutral and then the parcel finds it's way back to you? It just might after 3 weeks.
Have you suggested that your buyer checks their local depot?

Just because you have NEVER EVER NOT ONCE had mail go missing, don't assume it can't happen! :)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Well one way of knowing is to send by recorded. While it isn't infallible, it's for your peace of mind.
