Low User New Deal?
I have been looking for a new deal, i am a low user on both gas and electricity, i have been looking on all of the comparison sites but all seem to be dearer than the deal i'm on, other than Ebico and Utility Warehouse and both of these have no standing charge at the minute? Is there anywhere else i could find a better deal for a low user which is about at the moment?
Thanks

Probably not. Scottish Power, apparently, still allow you to take a two-tier version of their tariffs (although they appear on comparison sites only with standing charge versions). npower may still be an option if you factor in their £105 annual discount.
But, essentially, these will still be typically at least sixty percent more expensive than the previous best deals for low users.0 -
Just been looking at these deals it's between the NPower/Ebico and Utility Warehouse with the NPower and discount there nearly the same as the others will read a few review's before i decide, thanks for your help Nada666

Both nPower and UW have a bad reputation on this board.
nPower for variable weighting, thread a mile long, and similar UW commission selling query.0 -

If there is any tariff generally available that is cheaper, it would come ahead of the mentioned tariffs in the comparison site0 -
When i do a search via the cheap energy club it brings out Ebico as the best for saving me a little, everything is a -£ deal.

Just a quick check-
I see you say that you're a low user- do you have months in the year when you have zero consumption (for example, because your boiler is switched off and you use elec for your cooker?). If so, make sure when you enter the details on the price comparison sites that you use your current consumption and not spend. f you enter your spend level, the comparisons can miscalculate your consumption, and therefore mis-calculate what your new bills will be.
If you have already entered consumption, please ignore this.
NB: I work for British Gas. Anything I post is my own view, and does not necessarily represent those of my employer.0 -
Ebico will always be the cheapest when you are a low user, the biggest saving being when you switch off the b oiler for the summer, and the saving on standing charge.
Without really trying my electric is about 1400kwh p.a. and gas is 12000 kwh. (solo living).
Even where the supposed saving is £60 a year from a comparison site a manual re-calculation will show Ebico as lowest.0 -

That is simply not true. 'Low' is a variable adjective and there are plenty of 'low' usages where Ebico will not be cheapest. (And 1400 kWh electricity is certainly not a low consumption for a single person household.)0 -

You can't just make claims like this without backing them up with facts/figures.0 -

And 12000 kwh gas is not in any way low consumption for a single dweller who actually turns the boiler off in the Summer  We are a 4/5 person household with a large-ish 4 bed extended semi where the boiler is never actually turned off and use less than that.
PS Certainly in my Yorkshire area UW's low user tariff has no standing charge and cheaper per unit charges than Ebico and they are very much a profit making enterprise (granted they charge £1.50/mth club fee so the final calculation may be close on Ken68s consumption).0
