I haven't read the whole thread, but DH has just given me a Bug Zapper for my birthday.

Sure, it's cheap and nasty, but I LOVE it! The JOY when it flashes and sparks, and another bug hits the wires! :rotfl:
BTW, I like it so much I've asked him to get me another, then I can have one upstairs and one down. :rotfl:

My OH's gran got him, for Christmas a few years ago, a jumper with the words "remember my name, you'll be screaming it later" emblazoned on the front. It was given away, having been worn only a few times in the house.

Oh, and OH also talks about (every year), the secret Santa he got a few years ago which consisted of a mini etch a sketch (keyring sized) and a pair of novelty socks.

MIL got me a zebra print jumper with a zebra disguised in it.

I would be thrilled to get one of those; when I was a kid I longed for an etch-a-sketch and never got one. I used to love to play with them at friend's houses.

(Don't think it was for any other reason than I probably never let 'Santa' know I would like one;))

Not a birthday one - but was hilarious none the less.

This happened around 3 years ago when I was working in primary school in Scotland. One of the preschool teachers (around 30 years old) received a large beautifully wrapped heavy box from one of her students at the end of the school year. Needless to say, she was very excited about revealing what was inside. When she did, the staffroom was in fits of laughter.

Words cannot justifiability express just how hideous it was.

    It was something like this....

I've laughed 'til I cried with this. I'm off to read the rest of the thread!

Just spent a great half hour reading through, priceless!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Reminds me that I have a box of tat (mostly cheap, nasty mugs with slogans on them and gift sets of cheap smellies) that I must take to a CS, won't be in my town though!

I was thinking of naff presents that your children had been given - but this is much, much better!
When my daughter was small some relative of my husbands used to send down clothes parcels. At first I honestly thought they were gifts they had bought as the clothes were fine ... roll on a few months and they started sending things that were soiled, sun faded and parts of sets. I ended up binning them as thats all they were fit for and I am an avid charity shop buyer!.
Not to sound ungrateful but one we didnt need them anyway, and two they wernt poor. I ended up feeling quite insulted really.

You've reminded me of my uncle's MIL. She had her entire house re-curtained and offered my mother the old curtains to make dresses for us girls.

Think mother said the F word for probably what was the one and only time in her life.

    I've been Money Tipped!
It wasn't a present for me but I used to work a long ago for a well known chemist and a lady came in to refund the present her mother in law had bought her as she was allergic to it which was a box of oil of ulay as it was called then. It didn't scan so I had to track it back on the computer and it was 24p and had been for the last 3 years it was that old. The lady was furious as it was the ONLY present her MIL had given her

I felt awful for her :(

Oh, and to all the bad Valentines/ Mothers Day pressies, my other half just doesn't buy any! Despite him being given gifts, him seeing me buying Mothers Day stuff for my mum, it doesn't click that in my family we do presents for those days.
Same here, this year I havnt had a valentines, mothers day or birthday present. I've bought plenty back though!
I'd love some of the crap presents get here just to actually get a present!
