cheapest gizmo to carry around a list of books on pls

I'm a bookaholic and my brain has run out of space for remembering all the titles I already have on my shelves and I sometimes find myself buying duplicates which is very annoying. On the computer I have a database (other bookaholics will understand) which can be exported into excel/word.

What would be the cheapest gizmo to buy in order to be able to carry this info around with me? I only have a very very very basic phone so that's out.

Thanks

DC, thanks, but what I need is some sort of small cheap electronic device that I can load the document on in order to carry it around with me - i.e. something to access the document on. My phone isn't clever enough to do this and I don't have a tablet or anything like that. I have memory sticks - but the only other device I own is a laptop - which I don't want to carry around when booting/shopping.

    Thanks

Can you not print a list onto paper?

Mummy, I've done that in the past but the current printout is about 40 doublesided pages in font 8!! And it doesn't really make sense mse-wise to keep on printing it out every time I make changes.

If you have a smartphone there's an app called 'goodreads' where you can categorise books by read/currently reading/to read and other such criteria.

I thought of that but I took it that the OP had alot of books ( in database format ) and to carry around a paper copy with him.

Wow that's a lot of books. The only thing I can think of is buying a cheap tablet or a better phone. Seriously though that must take ages to check in a shop. Would it not be easier to buy online at home or write the book name down then check at home and go back to shop if you still want it.

Thanks for the goodreads suggestion - but the database is over 4000 records - and I don't fancy having to key in all that again! Plus, living in the wilds of Cornwall, you very often don't get any signal so anything that involves connecting probably wouldn't work.

So, if I can source a secondhand smart phone, I could just load the latest version of my word doc on it?

    thanks again all.
