You know MSE/DFW is taking over when...

.....your morning goes like this.......

You drive into town with the petrol gauge hovering perilously over the top of the red. You have 80p in your purse (4 x20p) but know that is fine because the parking is 60p for 1 hour.

You swear at the parking machine because it has gone up to 70p and you can't get your 10p change because they don't give change.

You deposit a greaspalm cheque and take up the bank's offer to give send you a quote on house insurance 'because they can beat anybody' according to the girl behind the counter and you think 'yeah, try it'.

You post two ebay parcels at the post office and then grab a basket in Sainsbury's and look round for any yellow sticker bargains feeling very posh because you are now a dedicated Asda girl and haven't stepped inside a Sainsbury's for months.

But........most of all..........when you drive into the car park past a big building plot you see the big bill board that says 'Aldi Supermarket opening here Christmas 2007' you hear yourself say out loud 'oooooooh, we're getting an Aldi......'

............and feel genuinely excited because you know where you are getting your bargain Christmas food shop from!!!!!

ahem.......:o

Then you get to the end of your working day and someone asks you 'what have you done today', and other than being on DFW website you cant think of anything else!!!

To save on parking you park a mile away from where you are going to save 30p and then lug everything about

Your OH asks how was your day at work and you reply ... well IAs OH had an interview, Shamu was a bit down...............etc

You come home and the first thing you do is log on the laptop, open the internet and email and check on here and to see how my Ebaying/Amazoning is going

You get to work and you log on here and then do your piggy comps just in case you win 10 pounds, I do that before I make myself a cup of tea!!

Gee I need a holiday! Luckily I am off to Wales for a few days (OH is great!) but I have already worried that I wont be able to check the boards!

In comparison, this is how my pre-DFW trip would (genuinely) have gone.

You drive into town with at least half a tank of petrol that has been paid for on the credit car. You have no idea how much is in your purse, probably about £25 that is left over from the last trip to the cash point. You stick £1 in the machine and don't think twice about being 30p down - I mean what's the point in worrying about 30p?

You go to the cash point and take out another £30 - just in case there is anything you spot in the shops and refuse the bank's offer to give send you a quote on house insurance 'because they can beat anybody' according to the girl behind the counter and you think 'haven't got time, need to shop. Anyway, how do you change your house insurance?'

You don't need to go to the post office as the only ebay parcels are the three that arrived with you this morning (another pair of shoes, and two tops you will definitely need over the Summer) and then get a big trolley in Sainsbury's and look round for what sirloin steak is on offer, think - great, 2 packs for £7! and buy lots of nibbly stuff from the deli section. Comes to about £35 (at least) and you wonder what you have bought as you only have 3 carrier bags but shrug it off anyway as you hand over the credit card.

And when you drive into the car park past a big building plot you see the big bill board that says 'Aldi Supermarket opening here Christmas 2007' you hear yourself say out loud 'don't think I'll be bothering with that - can't see it doing much business next to Sainsbury's.......'
