Is it currently possible to open a LloydsTSB current account online that will eventually become a TSB account?

I don't know about online, I seem to recall it used to let you chose online where you want you want your branch to be when I opened my accounts with them many moons ago. I don't know if it still does.

Or you could pop into a branch you know is going to become a TSB branch and open an account there and see if it becomes a TSB account.

Failing that wait until TSB is fully launched and then open an account then.

The first paragraph on most of the applications reads as follows:
Later this year some Lloyds TSB branches and customer accounts will move to TSB. If your application is successful, your new current account will be a Lloyds TSB current account and will not be included in the move to TSB.

Alternatively, if you want to open a new account that will be with TSB, please call 08458 353 863 (Textphone users can call 0845 300 0134). Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For information about TSB becoming a separate bank, please visit lloydstsb.com/transfer.

    Hope that helps.

From what I understand from all the literature sent to me about it, Lloyds TSB will change.

Lloyds TSB will become just Lloyds Banking Group loosing the TSB bit of its name.

TSB will become the separate part as Lloyds Banking group bought TSB in 1995 and created Lloyds TSB.

Basically the LloydsTSB has 2 main banking licences: LloydsTSB Bank (operating in England & Wales) and LloydsTSB Scotland (operating in Scotland).

Lloyds TSB bank has transferred some customers/branches to LloydsTSB Scotland. Lloyds TSB Bank will be renamed Lloyds Bank and LloydsTSB Scotland will be renamed TSB Bank.

Lloyds Banking Group owns the 2 LloydsTSB banks, along with Bank of Scotland which has Halifax as a sub-brand.

    Does that help?

'C&G', all 'Lloyds TSB Scotland' branches and some 'Lloyds TSB' branches in England will be transferred to the Lloyds TSB Scotland banking licence over the next month or so.

Remaining Lloyds TSB branches in England & Wales will become 'Lloyds Bank' whilst the branches transferred to the Scotland licence will become 'TSB' this August.

An IPO of the TSB Bank will take place in the Autumn where TSB will become a separate bank away from the Lloyds Banking Group.

TSB hasn't yet launched and will launch in August although a gradual rebranding of affected branches is taking place with temporary Lloyds TSB Scotland signage being put up over the new TSB logo.

Does that mean some of the branches in England/Wales have the temporary Lloyds TSB Scotland signage too?

They will have temporary signage but not with the Scotland affix. Just Lloyds TSB.
