Not free but.....
Buy a domain name with hosting and loads of storage right there, you remain in control of it. I do not trust what sites not in my control will do with my images. They can change the rules at anytime.

Although buying domain names can get addictive once you have one and the hosting costs are the same be it one or hundreds I am thinking of getting one like sorryweareshut so i can get my collection of shut shops online

Back up as many ways as you can, on HD's on CD's, flash drives on-line (google, Skydrive, etc etc etc.) back up back up back up!

In case I have not been clear if it matters do not back it up once back it up a 100 times in as many places as you can!

Many people probably already have 10GB cloud storage they might not have thought of: 5GB in their Google accounts and 5GB in their Amazon accounts.

I downloaded a free app called Picture Resize Starter (http://download.cnet.com/Free-Picture-Resize-Starter/3000-12511_4-10297789.html) to create a backup set of photos at resolution 1280 x 720 so they look just as good on my laptop screen but used just 3GB instead of the full 43GB that originals took. The 3GB took just a few minutes to upload to Google drive, and I also saved a copy onto the memory card of my mobile phone.
